Downward Taunt - Cracking her whip on the ground, Franziska says "I'm inclined to feel sorry for a foolish fool who foolishly spends their time foolishly.
Side Taunt - Franziska plays with her whip and says "Need I remind you!? The foolish receive no mercy..."
Final Smash: The Von Karma Way - Anything for a Guilty Verdict -
Chains appear and trap any of the opponents that touch them. Bound, with no way of escaping, Franziska deals heavy damage to all secured by the chains with her whip.
Weaknesses:
Growing up the way she did, Franziska is a perfectionist. She will always strive to be perfect and absolutely hates it when she cannot be. Suggesting that either her or her father aren't perfect could make her snap - or unleash her anger on her. Also, being of a feminine physique, she can be easily pushed around, if one manages to get close enough to her without feeling the wrath of her whip that is.
She will also do anything to protect Edgeworth, possibly even putting herself in danger to keep him out of harm's way. In addition, she can't really run fast in those heels...
Personality:
Franziska is one who strives for perfection. It is a trait passed down through her family. Her father was known for having a perfect record, every case he had prosecuted in, the defendant had received a guilty verdict (up until Phoenix Wright came along, that is). Being the Von Karma way, Franziska has tried her best since she was a little girl to follow her father's footstep. As such, her way was like that of her father and Edgeworth and she did whatever it took to get a guilty verdict. However, she did not stoop as low as her brother and father and never forged evidence or told witnesses to withhold information from the court, which is something to be admired. However, she is very flawed, and although is seen as a genius, she really isn't. She tries her best to cover these imperfections.
Franziska is also arrogant, cold, and ruthless, and she isn't afraid to show it. Her whip displays her need to be dominant and in control all the time, and she uses it against anyone and everyone (although she tends to be softer towards women, and Edgeworth).
There is a side to this woman that she hardly ever shows. Deep down inside she is just an insecure little girl, who is so constantly overwhelmed by the pressure of her father and Edgeworth, that she feels that she is forced to be absolutely and completely perfect. In short, perfection controls her life. She openly shows her love and affections for her 'little brother' and even cried in front of everyone when he was leaving to another country.
She had the odd habit of abusing the word 'fool' which is to show her childish side. (Note: Originally in the japanese game, she would go 'bakabakabakabaka' repeating the word 'baka' that means idiot, stupid, or fool. However, it is a very childish insult that wasn't carried over as well into the American version of Gyakuten Saiban.)
Also, her life is being a prosecutor. She was studying to become one since she was a little girl, and knows nothing outside of prosecuting. That is why she cannot comprehend how others can accept defeat in court. To her, losing is a big deal because failing in court is almost the equivalent to failing at her life.
Likes:
Being perfect, being right, her whip, whipping others, being dominant, being in control, Edgeworth, Adrian, her father,
Dislikes:
Phoenix Wright, fools, imperfection, losing a trial, foolish fools, when she is wrong, when things spiral out of control, foolishly foolish fools,
Appearance:
History:
Franziska Von Karma, the second daughter of Manfred Von Karma, was born and raised in Germany. She constantly studied to become a great prosecutor like her father, and soon she aimed for this goal with Edgeworth, an orphan that Manfred took in. Considered to be a prodigy, Franziska became a lawyer at the young age of thirteen. She won case after the case, earning guilty verdicts just as her great father and brother did.
However, the family's perfect score would soon be broken, by a defense attorney named Phoenix Wright. He faced Manfred in a case revolving around the DL-6 incident, with Edgeworth as the defendant. Not only did this porcupine head got the not guilty verdict for his client (which she was partially thankful for, as he cleared her little brother of all accusations), which ruined Manfred's record, but he also managed to pin her father as the true murdered and he was taken to jail...and given the death penalty. After this case, Edgeworth felt the need to leave the country.
Franziska sought revenge against Phoenix, and for that sole reason alone did she trade her court in Germany for the court in America. She wanted to take him down. However, she was not able to do more than crack her whip at him, as she always lost to him in court. Or so, that was the impression Phoenix had. Her true reasons for her going to America was to prove herself, thinking that she would be more than perfect if she beat the lawyer who defeated her father, the legendary prosecutor. The other reason for her going to America, was to look for Edgeworth and care for him, as he had fled after he was found innocent by Phoenix.
She fails at both of these goals. By the time she found Edgeworth, he had found his own path in life and they switched roles. At that time, it became apparent that she needed him and not the other way around. Franziska was actually going to give up, to quit, because of her failures, but Edgeworth was able to convince her that she was better than that, and he knew that she was better than that, and if she gave up then they would be parting ways for good...
Franziska takes this to the heart, and learns that the Von Karma way is not the only way, and she vows to catch up to her little brother some day.
During a certain trial, Franziska Von Karma is shot in the shoulder, but still wished to continue prosecuting the case. The location of the shot is significant in the way that her father was shot in the very same spot during the DL-6 incident. Coincidentally, during that same case, she watched Phoenix Wright lose and not be phased by it, and somewhat admired him for that. That event is what helped shape her character a bit more and helped her accept defeat more than she had previously.
Although Franziska does not really take a liking to Phoenix Wright, she has helped him. Especially when it involved Edgeworth.
Currently Franziska is still striving towards perfection and aims to be a better attorney than her brother and Phoenix Wright.
