She's human, despite having a connection with the underworld, she has the same speed and power of the average human. She's a bit hot-headed too and does this without thinking, like going after a possible serial killer and ended up becoming a hostage.
Personality:
Tends to be a fun-loving girl when around her friends, but when times call for it, like during a detective case, she gets all serious, especially if the case revolves around her friends. She really does care about her friends, like Yuko who was murdered, and this lead to her believing Tazaki killed Yuko, and she drugged the detective who was investigating Yuko's murder to protect him, cause she considers the detective a good friend.

Ayumi goes is basically you average Japanese school girl, only that she's part of a detective club that solves murder mysteries and the paranormal. It was during all this that she grew a connection to the underworld learning some abilities.
Ayumi is the daughter of Kunihiro and Toshi, Ayumi was born in Ochitani village and move to the city on her own during her teen-years where she became good friends with Yuko, and they join the school's detective clubs.
One mystery around the school, was the 'Girl in the Back', a mystery that was about a girl's dead spirit lurking in the school. It was revealed that this ghost is, Shinobu, Yuko's cousin and they both look alike! Because of them being related, this cause Yuko to want to investigate her murder, but she...mysteriously was murdered. This devastated Ayumi.
Detective Utsugi and his assistant (the protagonist) appeared to solve the case, and through the mystery, Ayumi developed a relationship with the young detective, and tended to help him in the case whenever she can. Because she developed a strong friendship with the young man, she drugged his coffee and went out for the man she believe to be Yuko's killer, ended up being a hostage. Luckily she left a note when the detective when he wakes up, and he came a saved her. But the suspect wasn't the one (But still insane)
It was revealed that a teacher was the killer of Yuko.
After the events, Ayumi became a detective with the protagonist
This lead her to help him in more mysteries, like helping him find a lost heir when he lost his memory. Ayumi even solved her own mysteries, like when she went back to her home town in Ochitani village and soled the mystery of the mayor's death. Since then, Ayumi became stronger and more independent.
