History:
Lolovivi was born into the prosperous Chastity family. Her father was an advisor to the king, always at his right hand. Her mother would stay at home to take care of her and her older brother, Pollux. Her father occasionally brought little Lolovivi to the castle to play with the King’s daughter, hoping they would become trustful friends like their fathers had. However she would always stay by his side, squeezing his hand tightly until it was time to return home. She preferred being at home either by herself or watching Pollux play with his friends. When she noticed Lolovivi simply watching other children through her window at play in the street, her mother invited her to make paper flowers with her and other small crafts.
Everything seemed to be going well, she had many toys and luxuries, but the best thing was the love her parents gave her and each other. They had left her with Pollux and the nanny one night; archpriest had invited them to dinner that evening. The two siblings had agreed to stay awake in bed until their parents returned, which was very late. She fell asleep, and woke up in the morning to find that her mother had fallen very ill. When the doctor diagnosed that she was poisoned, the advisor warned the king their might be something wrong with the food supply (unaware of the true reasoning behind it). Lolovivi watched along with Pollux as their mother wished for one last kiss from her husband, which he dolefully granted, and then slowly died in his arms.
It was about two weeks after their mother’s funeral that her father grew weaker, too. He spokee with a faint voice while always peering to the ground. When he became physically ill, it was simply assumed that his depression over his wife’s death had manifested itself in such a way. No one considered he contracted it from the kiss of his poisoned wife. Without a provider, Pollux and Lolovivi were forced to leave their comfortable lifestyle behind, in trade for a much more humble one.
With her brother working in a factory and as a street urchin, Lolovivi did what she liked best and stayed home by herself. There she either swept or watched the busy people on the busy streets. She would sit on her stool and watch various others pass by, and wondered: Where they were going? Why they were going there? Why were they in such a hurry? Were they going to work? Do they have a wife waiting at home? Do they love her? Are they happy? Will she be when she’s married..? She gave them stories and lives, it made her sad when she thought about how they never existed to her when she was wealthy.
Just as her parents were taken away so quickly, so was her brother. Lolovivi was awakened by the loud noises and stirrings coming from the other room. Officers had barged in and hastily took Pollux away in the middle of the night, new orders from the king had permitted such an act. After a few days she realized there wasn’t much money left, and she would have to work if she wanted to eat. What she decided was to dress in her brother’s attire and work his shifts. His pay was just enough for her to get by.
For once her luck had changed for the better, and while walking home from work Lolovivi found money on the street. She was tired of eating tasteless bread every day; it was the only food she could afford. She walked around town looking to treat herself to something new and came across a pastry stand. The sweet breads looked so tasty, like the ones she would eat when her mother was alive. She just started with her mouth agape. The baker offered her free food which she wholeheartedly accepted. As she slowly ate and savored the taste of sugar, she couldn’t stop thinking about the one who created the amazing treats. Lolovivi was unable to sleep, she had decided to skip work and visit him again. Nevertheless, she was very excited about it.
She swallowed hard before she asked him how she would be able to make food like him, and her heart skipped a beat when he told her he would teach her. Since then she has been called Plum, which she says is her pet name, and they have been inseparable partners.
Anything else?
Her name means “Love is Sweet”.
In Japan, the plum blossom is thought to symbolize devotion and the fruit is eaten for breakfast to prevent bad luck.
