Final Smash:
Dethl - Nightmare transforms into his ultimate form, Dethl. Dethl will swing it's arms left and right and roam all over the stage. It's pretty much the same as Mr. Game & Watch's Octopus, but more powerful, less range, and less maneuvering capabilities. Unlike Mr. game & Watch's final smash, Dethl can't fly, he must stay on the ground.
Weaknesses:
Nightmare has many flaws. When mimicking a creature/person/etc. it inherits their weaknesses. Its moves usually end up taking a lot of time. Very determined, this creature can't help but continually try to get what it wants, even if it means failure. It can't resist a good scare. Lightweight, so sent flying fairly easily. Gets into repetitious ruts as far as applying moves.
Personality:
There is practically no personality to Nightmare. Nightmare is made up of people's most hated and unwanted feelings. It constantly feels hatred and disgust, and is completely unpredictable on who or what it will try to attack. It's attitude changes depending on who or what it's around. It's generally very cold around most though. This creature is evil incarnate, the meaning of darkness, the ultimate "Nightmare". The only times it seems to enjoy itself, is when others cower before it.Talkin' about a superiority complex.
Likes:
Darkness, reading into peoples fears, destructive things, entering people's dreams.
Dislikes:
Light, people battling their fears, losing.
Appearance:
Generally like this, though Nightmare will take the shape of just about anything. He usually appears before the character as their worst fear.
History:
Link woke up on a beach after nearly drowning at sea, and meets a young girl named Marin. Marin takes Link back home with her and gives him a bed. When Link left the home, he found Marin singing a song called "The Ballad of the Wind Fish" and thanked her. Link went to a dark forest afterward, in hopes to find a way off the Island, and back on his quest. In this forest he met the Owl "Kaepora Gabora". This Owl was wise, and told him that the only way to get off the island was to "Awaken the Wind Fish" by playing all eight instruments in front of the Wind Fish's egg that sat on top of Tal Tal Heights. Link of course, found all the instruments and proceeded to do so.
Upon using the instruments that Link had gathered, the egg opened up to reveal a monster within the egg. Inside the Wind Fish's egg was a terrible monster named "Nightmare". This creature was all black, only it's eyes could be seen clearly. It morphed into several forms, and Link, using all of his gathered equipment, had vanquished every form.
Once the Nightmare was dealt with, the Wind Fish awakened. He confirmed that Koholint Island is a dreamworld, and that Link was taken into it when the ship was was struck by lightning. Using the Eight Instruments one more time which Link gathered and playing the Ballad of the Wind Fish, Link and the Wind Fish finally awaken. Link finds himself on a piece of his former raft and watches as the Wind Fish flies from overhead. The dream island of Koholint would only remain in his dreams.
Anything else? (Optional)
Nightmare was THE main villain of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. He's a poor forgotten child...never made an appearance past that game, nor before it for that matter. There could have been so much more done with the character, but nothing happened. Nightmare never spokee ONCE in the game, and wasn't even mentioned until the very end right before you fight him. He took the forms of all of Link's fears, which were previous bosses from previous games. Two notable villains he took the forms of were the Wizard from "A Link to the Past" and the famed evil king Ganondorf. Ganon and the Wizard never appeared in the game aside from that. Nightmare was definitely the game's intended main villain...sad he never returned.
