Weaknesses:
He has a soft spot for people he cares for. If he cares for somebody, like Lloyd, he has a hard time hurting them or letting anyone else hurt them. He also has very little armor, putting him into a terrible defensive state. Kratos is unhappy with the past, and feels guilt, making him kind of weak in that regard.
Personality:
Serious, dutiful, yet kind to those he loves. Kratos believes in getting down to business, and nothing gets in his way really. He works fairly silently, not letting people in on his plans for the most part. Kratos has a weak spot for his son, it's the only real family he's got so he cares for him deeply...though he's not mushy about it. Kratos is seemingly cold at first, but as he gets to know you he'll loosen up. A very wise and parental figure, Kratos is brave, strong, and a good leader and a protector.

4000 years before Lloyd set out on his journey with Collete, Kratos Aurion, a longtime friend and only human companion of Mithos Yggdrasil had traveled the world and helped put an end to the 500 year running war, the Kharlan War.
Mithos formed pacts with all of the Summon Spirits of the world, and after forming a pact with Origin, the King of Summon Spirits, a seal was based on Kratos in order to prevent anyone from gaining access to Origin ever again. The only way to gain Origin's power, is that if someone had released all the mana from Kratos' body which would end his life. Once Mithos had formed a pact with Origin, he asked him to make a sword, the Eternal Sword, which would be used to split the world into two, "Sylverant" and "Tethe'alla".
Not long after the heroes had ended the war, a human who had aided them had betrayed them and killed Martel. It was needless to say Mithos did not take this well. He had misinterpreted her wish to make a world free of decrimination, as a world where everyone was the same. Cruxis was then formed. Kratos, Yuan, and he were the first angels of Cruxis. Sicne Kratos was human, he forced to ingest a special clock named "Aionis" which allowed him to cast magic and use magical weapons, in order for him to become an Angel. The three men became three of four Seraphim, Martel being the fourth, and had descended upon the worlds and established the "Church of Martel". Mithos also founded the "Desian" organization, in order to aid his plans.
After learning of Mithos' plans about the "Age of Lifeless Beings" he decided to leave Mithos and descend upon the world of Sylverant. There he met a woman named Anna, a test subject human in the Angelus Project, which led her to be used to culture a Cruxis Crystal within her body, which is almost the same way Exspheres are made. After meeting with this woman, he realized that she was the love of his life.
After witnessing this madness, Kratos wanted to find a better way to reunite the worlds. He went on a journey to find a way for a human to wield the "Eternal Sword", the sword ithos used to split the worlds in the first place. Anna and Kratos were both pursued by Cruxis, Anna being stolen property and Kratos being labeled the "Traitor". While in hiding, Anna became pregnant, and gave birth to their son, Lloyd. The Desian Grand Cardinal Kvar caught them soon after Lloyd's birth. Anna's exsphere was removed which then turned her into a monster, and she turned on the baby Lloyd. Noishe, Kratos' pet, had saved the child, but became injured. Anna asked Kratos to kill her while regaining conciousness, but Kratos wastoo much of a pussy too upset to kill her. He eventually did kill her out of desperation to save his son when she turned on Lloyd once more. Kvar attacked when Kratos was weak, and eventually sent Lloyd, Anna's Exsphere, and Noishe off the edge of a nearby cliff, falling close to the Iselia Human Ranch. After defeating Kvar and his men, Kratos descended down the cliff, hoping to find his son, but instead, finding a bunch of dead Desian corpses mauled by monsters. Believing his son has been killed, Kratos sadly went back to Mithos, believing that Mithos would reuinte the worlds when Martel was revived.
The Cruxis Crystal in the Temple of Martel in Sylverant started to shine years later, indicating that the last Chosen of Sylverant had failed and the new one, a girl name Collete Brunell, had an almost identitical mana signature as Martel. Mithosorgasmed was excited at the thought of bringing his sister back, so he sent Kratos down to Sylverant once again to ensure Collete's safe journey on the Path of Salvation. Kratos meets Lloyd, Genis, and Collete as they battle a man named Vidarr, one of the fierce supposed "Desian" warriors. After the battle, Kratos introduces himself as a mercenary, and Phaidra, Collete's grandmother, hires him to protect her. Lloyd and company all travel to Lloyd's house, and upon seeing Anna's grave he realizes that Lloyd is indeed, his son.
Raine becomes intriuged with Kratos, as throughout their travels, Kratos seems to know about pretty much everything in the world. Even though Kratos had a secret agenda, he became quite fond of his newly developed 'friends' and especially Lloyd, even showing him more sword techniques and other things that dads would like to do with their sons. Though, he kept that bit of information secret to Lloyd.
Upon reaching the Tower of Salvation, Kratos takes Collete ahead of the group and delivers her to Cruxis. Lloyd and the gang arrive right when Collete was going to sacrifice her heart and memories to become a 'true' angel. Upon witnessing this, Remiel, her supposed father, attacks Lloyd and the gang, and is defeated. Remiel begs Kratos to save him, but Kratos reveals himself as and Angel of Cruxis to Lloyd and lets Remiel die. Lloyd attacks Kratos upon learning this, and Kratos defeats them as Mithos walks in. Mithos too engages in a battle with Lloyd and the rest, nearly killing them.
Kratos once again encounters the party when they reach the other world, Tethe'alla, upon the Fooji Mountains when the party goes there to retrieve the Rheairds. Lloyd realizes here that Kratos and Yuan, the leader of the Renegades, knew eachother in some way. After leaving the mountain, he encounters the party again randomly at Sybak, telling Collete that if she wished to live, she would have to remove the key crest that cured her Angel Toxicosis. Kratos randomly appears before Lloyd, honestly wanting to help, but at the same time, trying to carry out his job. He emphasizes on the importance to Lloyd, that he doesn't sever the last Mana Link between the worlds, but Lloyd carries this action out anyway which makes the Great Tree go haywire, and Kratos helps stop it from tearing the worlds apart.
Kratos once again encounters the group while they enter the city of angels, Welgaia, on Derris Kharlan, when Lloyd and company arrived to get a mana fragment to cure Collete's Chronic Angellic Crystallus Inofficium. Here, Kratos tells the group about how he met Mithos 4000 years ago, and then attacked the group. Angels then order Kratos to capture the group. The group escapes, and Kratos doesn't see Lloyd again until he secretly meets with him, thanks to Yuan, at Altessa's house...where Kratos reveals to Lloyd that he is Lloyd's father, and Mithos, a boy the party met a while back, reveals himself to be Mithos Yggdrasil.(Now that's a shocker!)
Kratos had talked to Zelos about "Aionis", which then led Zelos to think deeply about it. After leading the doctor of Flainor back to Altessa's House, Kratos meets up with the group again, explaining everything to Lloyd. Zelos later is seen speaking with Kratos after the doctor arrives at Altessa's house, and makes his decision to either betray the party while helping Kratos get Aionis, or to betray the party in order to die.
Kratos appears again after the initial defeat of Yggdrasill. He explains to Lloyd that the only way to reunite the world was to wield the Eternal Sword, and explains that in order to wield it, they have to form a pact with Origin, the summon that was sealed by Kratos and Mithos, and which is held shut by Kratos' Mana. In order to open the seal, Lloyd would have to kill Kratos. After a long and involved emotional breakdown, Lloyd and Kratos fight. As Kratos is about to die, Origin appears and Lloyd carries out the mission, as Yuan helps keep Kratos alive by sharing his own Mana.And giving him Magical AIDS.
After the battle with Lloyd, Kratos became very weak and needed rest, so he stayed at Dirk's House. He gave Lloyd his best sword, the Flamberge, and Dirk gave Lloyd his blade, the Vorpal Blade, and Lloyd gained quite possibley the strongest weapons he's ever wielded. He joins Lloyd later in the fight against Mithos.
After the second defeat of Mithos, Kratos agrees that Exspheres should no longer be able to be used by people, due to the senseless waste of human life involved. Kratos decides to take the rest of the Exshperes around the world and ship them into space on Derris Kharlan, along with all the angels, and himself. Derris Kharlan then drifted in space for a long time...though Kratos seems to have 'disappeared'. He now finds himself in "This World"...but doesn't realize it.
