His people, quiet places, the dark, winning, and Shao Kahn.
Dislikes:
Being betrayed, being stopped, lots of people in one place, those who hurt his people, Nitara, and not being able to control himself.

History:
A little bit before the Great Kung Lao’s death 500 years ago, Reptile formed an alliance with Shang Tsung and Goro on Earthrealm when they prepared for invasion. During the actual invasion, Reptile stayed hidden mainly. As much as Shang Tsung was his alliance, and as much as Shang Tsung liked to think Reptile was his servant, he chose to believe that he served the likes of no one. Reptile stayed on Shang Tsung’s Island, hoping that after this was all finished he could travel to Outworld and meet with Shao Kahn. He did attempt to help the invasion though, as when Liu Kang had traveled to the Pit on Shang Tsung Island and defeated Scorpion on the bridge, Reptile hissed the words, “To the bottom of the Pit, now.” Liu Kang had traveled to the bottom of the Pit as the creature asked, and Reptile challenged him to Mortal Kombat. He first appeared as a man, but when he walked closer to Liu Kang, he morphed into hi reptilian form. Liu Kang called him a servant of Shang Tsung, and Reptile replied, “I serve no master!” and attacked him. Liu Kang won this battle, but only through deception. Reptile had thrown the fight, and pretended to be dead.
Upon Liu Kang’s victory, Shang Tsung traveled back to Outworld along with Reptile and Outworld’s other surviving warriors. Upon traveling to Outworld, Reptile met with Shao Kahn. Shao Kahn would normally have destroyed this creature on the spot, but decided to accept it into his army, as he needed a good helping hand. Reptile had agreed to work for Shang Tsung, but only for a price…he wished for the very few members of his race to be freed from slavery within Outworld. Shao Kahn didn’t usually like giving away good slaves for a job well done, but he liked the potential in Reptile, so he accepted.
Shao Kahn sent Reptile on his first mission. Princess Kitana had left Edenia, and went to the depths of Earthrealm. Upon invading that realm, Shao Kahn ordered Reptile to go along with Jade and find Princess Kitana, and if necessary, kill her. Reptile did not succeed, as when he neared Kitana, Jade betrayed him to save her old time friend. After the war, Shao Kahn’s power decreased significantly, and Edenia and Earthrealm were both freed. Reptile was taken to Edenia and tried for genocide, ironic since his race was victim to this very act. He was found guilty, and was exiled to the Netherealm.
When the fallen Elder God Shinnok decided to launch an attack on Edenia, Reptile hopped on this opportunity to leave the Netherealm and try to get someone to help him revive his nearly non existent race. Shinnok recruited him as one of the generals for his Army of Darkness, though Shinnok’s army lost terribly against the Edenian army. Reptile was once again on the losing side, though this time managed to flee back to Outworld without being caught, and reunited with Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung, despite the fact that they never kept the promises.
As the years went on, and since he was away from his race for so long, especially his matriarch, he lost the control to alter his appearance. He could usually switch between both a human and reptilian form, but now Reptile seems to only have the form of a beast. He devolved so far back that he grew a tail, and eventually went crazy. He was no longer the Reptile that everyone knew once before. With the two realms fighting, Outworld and Edenia, Shao Kahn asked for Shang Tsung’s help. Shao Kahn sent Reptile as the messenger to this man, but upon reaching Shang Tsung’s new place of residence, he overheard the sorcerer and Quan Chi discussing their new “Deadly Alliance” and their plot to destroy Shao Kahn. On the way back to warn Shao Kahn, he was approached by the vampiress, Nitara, who revealed to him some knowledge of his lost civilization. She gave him the Kirehashi Blade, which was one of the ancient artifacts of the Zatteran civilization, as proof and revealed to him where Kitana’s forces were located. Reptile quickly rushed back to Shao Kahn to tell him this great news along with the plans of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, but when he returned, he was face to face with Shao Kahn’s already dead body on the floor. He did not know at the time, but this was a clone projected through Shao Kahn’s magic, and not the real deal.
Reptile felt as if he had no purpose and no hope after Shao Kahn were defeated. He aimlessly wander Outworld, and encountered Nitara once again. Reptile formed an alliance with her, in a desperate attempt to free his people, though little did he know that she was just using him to free her people from Outworld. The first step was to distract Reptile long enough so that the Deadly Alliance could kill of Shao Kahn. Second, she had to force Reptile and the cyber ninja Cyrax into battle. Reptile badly damaged Cyrax, almost ensuring his alliance with her to help her find the Portal Sphere. Reptile soon came to the realization that Nitara had fooled him, and the enraged and clearly more unstable creature tracked Cyrax and the vampiress to the Lava Chamber, but is was too late. The Portal Sphere had been destroyed, and Nitara and Cyrax were completely gone. Nothing was left in the room except for the almost fully incubated egg of Onaga, the Dragon King. The egg hatched and a beam of light cut through Reptile’s body, and made him a vessel for the reincarnated Onaga.
Reptile now had no control over his body, as Onaga was now the true mind. Reptile only could see what was being done. Shujinko, along with several other defenders of Earthrealm, encountered Onaga and challenged him to Mortal Kombat. They were successful in defeating him, and Nightwolf rose to dealt he final blow, sending Onaga’s soul to the Netherealm, and separating him from Reptile’s body. Soon though, Onaga escaped the Netherealm, and traveled to Outworld to fight with Shao Kahn, where Reptile stayed there in the Temple of the Dragon King to rest.
The Red Dragon Clan found Reptile’s body lying in the Temple of the Dragon King, and they decided to snatch his body. They took him back to their lair, and used his DNA to create a human-reptilian hybrid race. Reptile soon awoke and broke out of his prison without thought, and attempted to escape. Here, in this place, he met with Taven. Taven engaged with him in Mortal Kombat, and Reptile lost. Though, Reptile did get away, and left Taven to deal with the human-lizard hybrid creatures that were created with his DNA.
Reptile noticed he was a lot more under control, and a lot less beastly looking, as his snout was gone and he had no tail. He heard rumor of a place called the Pyramid of Argus, that was risen, and a monster named Blaze sat at the top. By defeating this monster, one would have the power of a god, and could be granted the power of immortality. Reptile saw this as an opportunity to re-claim his race, and rushed toward the Pyramid. He got to the very steps of the Pyramid, as most of the combatants have, but failed to get to the top.
Reptile looked up as he laid there on the steps, his world slowly turning black. He saw a woman not too far away on the Pyramid, this woman was Khameleon, another Saurian. Reptile didn’t have enough energy to go to her, but he knew she was one of his race. He was happy to see more of his race out in the open and quite possibly free, and slowly closed his eyes, thinking that he will now be put to death…but after everything faded completely black, he opened his eyes once more, and found himself in a new location entirely…This World.
