History:
The Desert Colossus was once home to the Temple of Spirit, spiritual hub for the Gerudo tribe of warrior-thieves who would cross the Haunted Wasteland to receive blessings from the Goddess of the Sand. However, after the birth and rise to power of the Twinrova sisters, Koume and Kotake, the Temple was corrupted into the Spirit Temple: a house of sorcery, ghosts and monsters, making it the ideal hideout for Ganondorf while he plotted the downfall of Hyrule with his loyal surrogate mothers. The Gerudo second-in-command, Nabooru, tried to invade the Temple in an attempt to foil the King of Thieves' plan, but was captured and enslaved by Twinrova. It was only by a chance encounter with Link, the Hero of Time, as a child that she was able to be rescued after seven years of bewitchment. Koume and Kotake came to a final show-down with Link in their secret Room of Rites within the heart of the Spirit Temple, where they died attempting to sacrifice him to aid Ganon's cause. Nabooru subsequently awakened as one of the Seven Sages to aid Link in the rest of his adventure to save Hyrule.
Events:
The Colossus itself is plagued by Leevers - small cactus-like worms that hide beneath the sand waiting for prey to walk overhead before pursuing them quickly in quick hit-and-run swarms hoping to wear down the last of the victim's strength after crossing the Haunted Wasteland. Scavenging Guays also inhabit the skies of the area - vicious vulture-like creatures that dive down to peck and scratch at Wasteland survivors.
Anything Else:
If one was to conduct a magical ritual within the hidden Room of Rites, their power would be increased eight-fold in the process. It is also believed that bringing water magically to quench the thirst of the oasis once more might reveal a surprise.

Appearence:
The Desert Colossus is home to a dried-up oasis and a giant statue of the Gerudo Goddess of the Sand carved into a cliff. It has several subsections:
- To the east lies the Haunted Wasteland - a very dangerous area which can only be crossed by completing a set of trials: First, The River of Sand must be crossed - a hill of flowing quicksand which threatens to swallow any who step foot upon it; then, the Phantom Guide must be located and followed through a blinding sandstorm which one can never escape from without the aid of the ghost's enchanted lantern to light their way.
- To the north, a Great Fairy Fountain is hidden behind a crumbling wall-face. Here sleeps the Great Fairy of Magic. Though the Great Fairy traditionally only grants favors to friends of the Hyrulean Royal Family, in This World, the Great Fairy is just happy to receive any visitors at all with news of events in the strange lands beyond. She is able to fully heal Health Points, and gives a temporary boost of magical power to those able to wield it.
- To the west, an ancient monastery is built into a cliff shaped as the Goddess of the Sand. This is the Spirit Temple, the focal point of the Desert Colossus - it is filled with treasure, traps, ghosts and monsters. All fighting takes place in the main chamber, which is dominated by another massive statue of the Goddess with hands which players can use as platforms. There is also a third platform which raises and lowers itself from the ceiling on chains. With a well-timed jump, it can be used to reach the statue’s head. If the torches in front of the statue's altar are lit up, it will gain the Goddess's attention, there's a small chance that she'll either grant a reward or dole out a punishment for evoking her divine presence - she might provide food, valuable treasure or weaponry... or she might summon a few monsters from another part of the Temple. Unwary travellers must beware of desired items littering the floor - for they are likely to float up and attack those closest to them if left unclaimed for too long.
