Name:
Liddell
Game of Origin:
Nintendo Appearance:
A Witch's Tale is for the DS
Nicknames:
Little Liddell (she only lets a few certain people call her this, otherwise she gets very mad)
Age:
Probably 12 or 13
Species:
Witch
Gender:
Female
Alignment:
She acts bad, but she's good.
Type:
Lightweight = Kirby
Character Stats:
I heard these changed to something involving 'ten hits to trophydom'.
Residence:
Liddell hails from the eternally Halloween land of Lenore, but the Shadow Town is where most of her game is based on. Her world hasn't extended into This World just yet, however...
Personal Relationships: (optional)
Loue- Vampire "guide" that followed her through her adventure and commented on things.
Babayaga- Old, powerful witch that runs a trading shop. One of the very, very, very few people Liddell respects.
Kitty- classmate and somewhat taken-advantage-of friend.
The Mad Hatter and co- More "guides" that either annoy Liddell, confuse her, both, or get annoyed with her.
Anne- A very good friend that Liddell is looking for.
Occupation:
Witch-in-Training
Moveset:
Please expand on a moveset for us. Tell us what all your character can do. and please do tell us how high he/she can jump, or if they have good recovering abilities. If the move can be used as a recovery, please insert an (R) in front of the move. The prefered moveset template is as seen below:
Special Moves: (Mandatory)
Standard Attack - Expa Rune- Liddell casts her non-elemental spell to make an explosion around herself. Decent power, not much knockback.
Upward Attack - Supra Rune- A jet of water sends Liddell and any nearby foes upwards, letting them fall back to the ground as she drifts daintily down with her Pumpkinbrella, much like Peach's parasol.
Downward Attack - Vile Rune- Liddell casts her most noxious magic, the essence of poison clouding around her. Large area of effect, but no knockback. Good chance of poisoning the foe, small chance to shrink them.
Side Attack - Special Doll- One of the 'special dolls' Liddell has acquired jumps toward the enemy and attacks. Which one it is is random, but all are generally fairly good power and good knockback. Some are much more powerful than others (especially the Mad Hatter doll), but they average out well enough.
Regular Attacks: (Optional)
All "A" attacks are the normal attacks used by pressing the A button in Smash Bros. These usually consist of punches and kicks.
(A) Standard Attack - Liddell stabs forward with her closed umbrella. Very weak.
(A) Upward Attack - Liddell stabs upward with her umbrella and one of her normal dolls assists her by flying up, further than her umbrella. Two-hit combo if both collide. (counts for 1 of the ten "hp" everyone has, but must be evaded twice)
(A) Downward Attack - Liddell spins her umbrella around herself and two dolls attack to either side of her. The ground version of her Up+A.
(A) Side Attack - Liddell lunges with her umbrella and one of her stronger normal dolls assists. Better two-hit combo.
Aerials: All of Liddell's aerials basically involve her sending a doll at her opponents or kicking them when she's floating via her umbrella.
Smash Attacks: Liddell uses stronger dolls for these, and casts the "Abyss" version of her spell instead of the standard one, doubling it's range and damage.
Grab 1 - Liddell has two of her dolls hold her foe, since it's doubtful she'd be strong enough to hold even Kirby for two seconds without strangling him.
Taunts: (Optional)
Upward Taunt - Liddell opens her umbrella and spins it, then it stays open until she attacks or gets attacked.
Downward Taunt - Liddell does a pirouette and poses with her open umbrella.
Side Taunt - Liddell munches quickly on a Rose Cookie. ((MP restoring item in-game))
Final Smash:
Halloween- Liddell lets Dark Magic course through her body, then sets it loose on the battlefield. It starts with a dense cloud of purple fog traveling along the ground, increasing gravity above it, then lightning passes through the area sideways, which quickly evolves into beams of raw magical energy. Nine of these beams blast across the battlefield at varying heights, and each must be dodged separately. If one is not successfully dodged, the knockback from the beam that hit you will knock you into the next, and the next, and so on. When the attack is done the mist fades, and Liddell remains invincible for two more turns...but she's still using dark magic. Her eyes glow red and her brow darkens as she stumbles through the battlefield with a crazed expression, her umbrella open. All her attacks during this time (aside from her spells) are done by the Eld Witch doll, which is extremely fast and strong, dealing two points of damage per attack instead of one. ((It has 9999 attack power in-game...and 0 defense.))
Weaknesses:
Liddell is very weak physically. Tossing her around is easy, she doesn't like work, and she complains of having brittle bones after falls. Most of her attacks that aren't her magic are done instead by her many magic dolls, but they vary in strength- a few are even weaker than Liddell.
Personality:
Liddell has an unpleasant personality at best. If someone meets her and happens to know Demon Lord Etna, they'll note similar body types, facial features, outfit types, somewhat similar hair styles, and a very similar personality, but as far as Liddell knows they're not related. She's self-centered, mean, driven by her goal to be better than Alice, the witch queen, and will do just about anything to do just that. She's known to lie, steal, cheat, and never studies at her magic school, but she's still extremely good with her magic. She's prone to pouting when she doesn't get her way, but she knows when it's time to be responsible, and she saved her world when the time came....but she certainly dragged her feet in the beginning. Liddell wants to do things her way, and if she doesn't get it, she'll start smacking people with her umbrella. She's not a nice person at all, but she hides her real emotions behind that mask of childish cruelty. She's often sadder than you'd think, and is much more "human" than most believe- she's not evil enough to sprout wings and fangs just yet.
Likes:
Herself, good food (like chocolate tadpoles or poison salad), being a powerful witch, herself, dolls, magic, kicking butt left and right, doing whatever she wants, and Queen Alice.
Dislikes:
Other people in general, being reminded of her mother (since she's never met her), not knowing things other people know, confusing people, having to work, being blamed for things (even when it IS her fault), and people that think they're better than her.
Appearance:
History:
Liddell started her little adventure in her magical school, where she decided that "Forbidden Magic" was so much better than the crap the classes were giving them (not that she attended them anyway), so after reading up on where the old spells might be hiding, she threw the books to her friend Kitty and ditched school to go visit Granny Babayaga. She asked about the old Rune Magic, once wielded by the Eld Witch (who'd nearly destroyed the world) and Queen Alice (who'd saved it), and after a small argument was sent to the torture room inside a strange castle. After complaning about everything but a little bomb being either rusted, out of reach, or unknown to her, she looked through the castle and found an extremely "cute" coffin, which she opened to see if anything was inside, despite having been warned that a vampire lived in the castle.
Loue, said (vegetarian) vampire, was asleep inside, looking pretty good in Liddell's opinion for a bloodsucker, and Liddel continued her search of the castle, coming to a sealed door just ahead of the coffin. Liddell very sneakily threw that bomb she'd found at it, zipping inside as the vampire woke up to get the magic book inside the sealed chamber, a large red and black treasure chest within sadly locked.
Loue did his best to stop Liddell, but she opened the ancient tome and was bless with the ancient Rune Magic...but the Eld Witch was released from her prison within the book as well. The ancient spirit fled the castle to once again destroy the world, leaving Liddell with the irritating task of getting six sigils from the princesses (all of whom were in danger, since the Eld Witch's curse would make their guardians their enemies) of the surrounding kingdoms in order to open the door to Queen Alice's world- to have her save the day again.
The first world was Rem Saccharas, the land of sweets, peopled by candyfolk. Liddell's adventures in the land of candy involved a giant candycane, a river of grape juice, a maze made of cookies, and the world's meanest cavity, but eventually she found the three items Babayaga (who had a shop in every kingdom) needed to make a key for the door of Princess Gretel's castle. Gretel was guarded by a gigantic Nutcracker, but Liddell and her dolls managed to smash it down to size and get to the Princess, who had sadly eaten a poisoned apple. Liddel slammed her umbrella into Gretel's belly, making her cough it up and saving the princess' life, which made the kind-hearted girl get a small crush on the witch. Gretel gave Liddell her sigil, and in thanks she also gave Liddel another spell of Rune Magic, the Vile Abyss, and asked the "beautiful and strong" witch to go save her sister Hansel, opening the way for her with a spell.
Next up was Rem Boreas, the Ice Kingdom, where Gretel's sister Hansel waited, imprisoned in a block of enchanted ice by her corrupted guardian, the Ice Queen. Liddell quested through the snowy terrain, climbing a mountain and skating across puzzling ice as she once again collected the strangest things for Babayaga to make the castle's key, but soon enough she was away from the zombified dogs and tricky spirits, off to defeat the Ice Queen and free Hansel. A fairly predictable fight, Liddell defeated the guardian and freed the Princess from her prison with the power of her Rune Magic. Hansel, much like her sister, thanked Liddell and gave her a sigil and the Ice spell's Abyss form.
The next world was opened by a ghost, since Hansel hadn't opened anything, the long-haired ghost claiming to have once been friends with Liddell before vanishing. This was confusing, but Liddell pressed on, heading into the plant kingdom of Florin, which had been completely destroyed 1000 years ago, and was far different from it's first form. Liddell once again searched for Babayaga's ingredients, hiking through bamboo, ignoring various kitsunes, and other beating off more monsters while searching through a false-walled maze and a sacred tree, and setting a few ghosts' affairs in order as well. The Path of Reincarnation, an odd area that seemed to call out to liddell was blocked off by a hefty boulder, so she had to leave it behind when she went to the castle to save the Princess Kaguya, who'd come from the moon to soothe the spirits of the departed people of Florin from 1000 years ago. Liddell fought off the strangely slim, wingless dragon from the moon and released Kaguya from the giant golden bamboo she'd been sealed in, and was once again given a sigil and an Abyss level spell, the plant one this time. Kaguya asked her to also save Princess Aquell, since the water from her kingdom helped the plants of her own grow.
Liddell agreed and went on to Oceria, where she walked on water until the Cheshire Cat stopped her and made her sink to the bottom of the oddly breathable water, then she irked him by refusing to listen to him. Liddell had a curious undersea adventure this time, fetching an air seed to pass through the normal water while fighting off sharks and the like (one of whom got a serious crush on her from the way she defeated him, but he decided he wasn't good enough for her on his third defeat), and eventually she once again got the key to the castle and worked her way through. Liddel had a slightly harder time saving the ditzy mermaid princess from her octopus guardian, but she pulled it off and found out that Aquell had a serious crush on Loue, of all people. Aquell thanked her (sort of) and forked over the sigil and spell, then asked Liddell to go help a messenger she'd sent to the sandy desert kingdom, because said messenger was a jellyfish of all things.
Liddell took the offered salt for the messenger and left quickly to Al'Sahra, to save Lyra and that jellyfish. She hiked through the hot desert, acquired a magic lamp, ran through ancient ruins, saved the stupid jellyfish with the salt and a drink of water, then eventually found the palace, which had been hidden by an enchanted mirage. As she stepped into Lyra's chamber, however, she was dragged into the Al'Sahra of 1000 years ago, where it's first princess demanded the lamp from her and sent a devilish genie at Liddell when she refused. After a difficult battle, Liddel came out on top and the mirage faded, Lyra becoming free from the nightmare she'd had again and again of the first princess, who'd died in her crowning ceremony when the Eld Witch had first attacked. She thanked Liddell profusely for getting her away from the nightmare, giving her the fire sigil and it's spell, and she opened the door to the final kingdom.
Artis was a land of machines instead of magic, it's princess trusting no one. Hot steam and damaged lights, along with robotic spiders, a broken clock, and spiked floors all impeded Liddell's progress, but on she went, especially after a painting of a crying pair of men, one a scarecrow and the other made of tin, begged her to help the princess learn to trust people once more. Eventually Liddell got into the castle, to find only the Thunder Lion, Princess Dorothy nowhere in sight. Assuming it might have eaten her, or that she was hiding, Liddell fought the powerful beast, which turned into the lion-tailed princess once it was taken down. Dorothy had been sure that Liddell was the Eld Witch, and explained why she didn't give the people of Artis her trust- her father had been killed by his closest friend. Liddell slapped some sense into her (literally) and made her realize that everybody Artis deserved her trust, or else she wasn't worthy to be Princess. Dorothy agreed after a while, and sent Liddell on her way with the final spell and sigil.
Once all the sigils were together, Loue took Liddell to the middle of the chamber they had gone to each world from, and used the sigils to open the Rabbit Hole right beneath her. Liddel landed roughly and hiked through the oddly empty Maze Forest, accosted only by the jokes and jibes of Alice's servants- The Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, and the March Hare, along with his good friend the Dormouse. Eventually (by following the overweight cheshire cat around) Liddell came to Alice's palace, and the Mad Hatter explained how Alice had defeated and sealed the Eld Witch, each of the six kingdom around Lenore making a massive seal on her power, but requiring Alice to live down there, within the Rabbit Hole.
After leaving them behind, Liddell finally met Queen Alice, was about to give her the ancient magics, and the Eld Witch appeared, killing the Queen with a single strike, in a rage not born from her imprisonment, but from the fact that her daughters had not been allowed their reincarnations by Alice's magic. Liddell didn't really understand that, but she fought the Eld Witch, barely defeating her in the long battle of ancient magic. As the Eld Witch withered away, she asked Liddell if she was one of her kind, the underground folk who'd been denied the stars and moon simply for where they were born, the creators of the Rune Magic. Liddell had no answer, and the Eld Witch died as the Mad Hatter and Alice's other servants arrived, calling Liddell the new Queen Alice, their eyes glowing red as they surrounded her. She didn't want to take Alice's place, but they had only one reply- "Queen Alice commands it! COMMANDS IT!"
...
And then Liddell woke up outside her school, her friend Kitty commenting that Babyaga must have really walloped her for asking about Rune Magic. Liddell didn't think that was it, but she remembered dreaming about having really powerful magic for a while. A week or two later, she went back to Babayaga's to ask about the magic again, and once again she was sent to Loue's castle. Her entire adventure happened all over again, though her magic was far, far stronger for some reason this time, but things changed when they got to Florin- the Path of Reincarnation was open this time.
Liddell stepped through into the Florin of 1000 years ago, where butterfly winged fairies greeted her amidst the gigantic daisies. One asked if Liddell could help find her purse, and Liddell agreed because the fairy was blocking the path forward. As she searched, Liddell used her magic to break a crystal, much like the Eld Witch's crystals in each kingdom, which had hidden powerful dolls of the local princesses. As she took the purse from beneath it, a white-haired, red-eyed girl walked up behind her, asking how she'd managed to break her spell- the hiding-other-people's-stuff-in-crystals bit was a game played by the witches of the underground kingdom, and Anne (the girl) made the hardest crystals ever.
The two were very, very alike, and became fast friends, playing together for hours. Liddell promised to play again with her sometime, and Anne gave her her bracelet to seal the promise, saying as she did that it was a royal heirloom of the underground people. Liddell cocked an eyebrow at that, but she left Anne to her own devices as she gave the fairy her purse and went to meet Florin's old princess- the long-haired Rapunzel, who seemed oddly familiar... They also became fast friends, but Liddell vanished after a short amount of time, returning to her time with the sunset. As she stepped back into the saddened Florin of now, she remembered where she first met Rapunzel- the ghost that had opened the way to the kingdom.
Liddell continued her adventure, the bracelet from Anne letting her see three spirits guarding strange red and black treasure chests in Florin, Oceria, and Al'Sahra, each of which contained a stone of some form of malicious intent, which Babayaga fused together into an evil looking key.
When Liddell finished her adventure, before heading down the rabbit hole, she went to the Shadow Town to heal up before going to meet Alice, and one of the local shadows let her through an area he'd been blocking this entire time, which lead to the "land of eternal darkness". Liddell ignored him and went inside, a bat taking her back to Loue's castle. She went to where she met Loue, and he was waiting for her there, something strange in his eyes putting her on edge right before he attacked her, welcoming her to the land of eternal darkness. She beat the crap out of him in her hardest battle yet, and Loue quit acting like a monster afterward, giving her a magic doll of himself as a reward for defeating him at his full power. She frowned at him, then felt the key in her purse pulse- that chest that had been locked when she got the ancient tome looked just like the ones that had hidden the Cursed Stone, Anger Stone, and Grudge Stone...
It fit perfectly in the lock, and Liddell recieved and even stronger doll from within- a doll of the Eld Witch.
Liddell took it and the Loue doll with her down the rabbit hole, which was full of mist for some reason. As she was about to enter the Maze Forest, Liddell saw the Eld Witch looking around, searching for something she was certain would let her defeat Alice with ease, the sacred bracelet of her people, the one around Liddell's slim wrist. She attacked Liddell for the bracelet when she saw it, but Liddell fought back, not wanting to lose the bracelet since she'd promised Anne she'd return it when they played again...but something felt horribly wrong to her, and when she defeated the Eld Witch she asked a single question, but she already knew the answer was yes-
"Are you...Anne?"
The Eld Witch's hideous visage faded to be replaced by Anne's, Liddell's friend slowly dying from their battle as she said her goodbyes, sad that she'd lost herself in her fury. She crumbled away to ash, aside from her necklace, and Liddell did what any girl her age would do- she cried. She carried the necklace in tears through the Maze forest, ignoring all of Alice's servants until the Mad Hatter mentioned something that made at least her sobs stop- "Death is not goodbye in this world," he'd assured her, "You will meet your friend again." With that out, he left, claiming to be late for a tea party, and Liddell followed him to Alice's castle, where all six of the princesses were waiting for her, along with Loue. Loue explained that she was in a dream world made by Alice, ever since Babayaga sent her to his castle, and all the princesses made her promise to come visit them for real at some point. Liddell cried even more as Loue put Anne's necklace around her, the world glowing and fading away as she slowly woke up in her school's library, the necklace and bracelet with her as she looked around, again forgetting everything...
Well, not everything. Two things remained- she instinctively knew the Rune Magic now, but that wasn't the important thing.
She knew that the necklace and bracelet weren't hers, and she needed to return them to someone.
So, sooner than anyone expected, Liddell recovered her Rune Magic's strength after some rest, and she used it to tear a hole open in reality, ignoring her world to go find her friend she barely remembered. In that quest, she's come to This World, and she's got a feeling that her forgotten friend might be here somewhere, or that she'll find something that will help in her search for that certain someone.
Someone named Anne.
Anything else?
Whenever Liddell gets a food type item, she uses a spell to make it "proper" food, such as Frog Soup, Rose Cookies, Snake Meat, Poison Salad, or Chocolate Tadpoles. This also happens whenever she breaks a barrel or something and food happens to come out, Smash Bros style- all the food comes out as food from her world, and it tastes quite bizarre to everyone but Liddell.
