This was a bit of a challenge as Schala wasn't a playable character in Chrono Trigger but I wanted to make her a moveset because she was always a personal favorite of mine.
Name:
Schala
Game of Origin:
Chrono Trigger
Nintendo Appearance:
Chrono Trigger
Age:
Unknown
Species:
Human
Gender:
Female
Alignment:
Neutral
Type:
Lightweight
Residence:
Zeal
Occupation:
Princess of Zeal
Personal Relationships:
Queen Zeal (mother)
Janus/Magus (brother, best friend)
King Zeal (father)
Dalton (hates)
Crono
Lucca
Robo
Marle
Alfador
Frog
Ayla
Melchior
Gaspar
Belthasar
Physical abilities:
-She is the only Chrono Trigger character other than Magus that can use more than one of the magical elements.
-Schala possess strong magic
-Schala is physically weak but can augment her strength with magic
Learned abilities:
-Knows powerful magic from living in Zeal
-Knows how to unlock the full potential of the Dreamstone
Specials:
1 neutral: Chant: Schala puts her hands together as if praying as a blue aura glows around her. If Schala isn’t interrupted or hit while she is chanting she has the potential to perform three different spells. However, while her chant can be disrupted if she succeeds with the incantation her spells can’t be stopped. Each spell is always chosen at random.
Wild Growth: Large thorny roots burst from the ground and entangle the nearest foe for about eight seconds. This attack causes considerable damage but doesn’t have much knockback.
Plasma Barrage: Schala brandishes her hand above her head as a large cloud appears directly above her. Lightning bolts burst from the cloud and are scattered all over the stage. This attack causes considerable damage.
Molten Bath: A massive column of lava burst from the ground and travels in a straight trajectory for about five character lengths before dissipating. This attack causes heavy damage and has good knockback.
1 up: Spring’s Breath (R): Schala crosses her arms as she burst in to hundreds of small butterflies. Unlike Magus’ Raven Wing Schala can slightly control the direction in which she travels; however, foes who come in contact with the butterflies suffer no damage and she cannot attack until she returns to her normal. The wings of the butterflies are purple which resemble Schala’s clothing.
1 down: Arcane Armor: Armor made of mystic energy materializes around Schala for a short time. While she dons this armor damage from physical attacks is slightly reduced and magic based projectiles will heal her HP by the same amount of damage they would have inflicted. The armor shimmers like diamonds.
Side Attack: Mystic Momentum: Schala stretches out her arms in front of her and sends a blast of magic energy forward. The blast causes considerable damage and physically moves her opponent with it until it dissipates. This attack can be charged for more range and damage. This is a good maneuver for getting away from opponents.
Standard Attacks:
2 neutral: Schala hits her enemy twice with two rolling kicks and then finishes by striking the enemy in the torso with both hands charged with magical energy.
2 up: She bends backwards putting her hands on the ground as if to do a backflip and then kicks high with her foot charged by magical energy. This attack doesn’t cause much damage but can easily launch foes upward.
2 down: She hits the enemy with a weak low kick in hopes to trip them.
2 side: She spins forward with her arms outstretched. Her hands are charged with magical energy as she whirls forward hitting as many opponents as possible.
Running attack: She runs and jumps kicking out forward with both legs as she falls on her back. This attack has surprising knockback.
Smashes
2 side: Deluge: Two large plumes of water steadily rise on both sides of her and collapse into powerful waves that travel in both directions as she gestures downward. This attack causes heavy damage and has good knockback. The waves travel about 2 character lengths before dissipating.
2 up: Freezing Prism: Schala brandishes her hand back and forth as a blast of ice crystals burst from it. This attack does comparable damage to Zelda’s upward smash except if the opponent has accumulated a lot of damage it has a change of freezing them.
2 down: Arid Scorch: Schala hands glow with fire as she hits the ground sending up flames on both sides of her for about one character length.
Aerials:
Double Jump: when going in to her double jump she leaps elegantly while stretching out her arm as if doing ballet and then spins tucking her arms in tight.
1 neutral: She puts her arms to her sides and glows with a blue aura that knocks foes back.
1 up: She turns upside down and kicks with both feet that are imbued with magical energy. This attack can be a meteor smash if timed correctly.
1 down: She spins with her feet charged with magical energy.
1 forward: She kicks outward twice.
1 backward: She kicks backward.
Throws:
Up throw –She hurls the enemy upward on a whirlwind.
Down throw: Vines come up from the stage and capture the enemy as she lands on their chest with her knees.
Forward throw: She grabs the enemy and shoves them forward.
Backward throw: She grabs her opponent by their arms, uses them to slide under their legs and pushes them in the opposite direction.
Grab: He shocks the enemy by placing her hands on their neck
Entrance: She appears out of a burst of magic with her hood concealing her appearance and pulls it back revealing her long, voluminous blue hair.
Taunts:
Upward Taunt –She holds her hands as if praying as her pendant glows.
Downward Taunt –She bends down on one knee and solemnly looks forward.
Side Taunt –She takes out a spell book and begins reading it.
Final Smash: Celestial Force: When Schala breaks the smash ball it becomes night no matter where the stage is located begins chanting immediately but we’ll remain invincible while doing this. Light begins to form around resembling a galaxy while she stands in the center. After several seconds pass the light intensifies and explodes sending everyone in the vicinity flying while she remains safe in the center. Both the she and sky will return to their normal states after this.
Weaknesses:
While Schala possesses incredibly strong magic it takes time for her to use her attacks which leaves her open. Even augmented by magic her physical attacks are not that strong and she isn’t the fastest of runners. Schala is also very lightweight which gives her a large disadvantage when facing heavy-hitters. Schala is easily manipulated and overly trusting of people. She also sees the good in others and often ignores the bad as she was deceived by her mother because of this.
Personality:
Schala is very loving and sweet; she cares deeply for her younger brother Janus (Magus) and feels like it’s her responsibility to protect him most likely due to her mother’s deepening hunger for power. Schala has a penchant for magic and is known to be both beautiful and graceful.
Likes:
Janus, magic, cats, the earthbound ones, and nature.
Dislikes:
Her mother’s hunger for power, Lavos, Dalton, how the earthbound ones are treated, and hatred.
Appearance:
History:
Schala is the princess of Zeal, and is the last wavy blue-haired woman to ever carry that title. Born into royalty, she was immediately identified as having a penchant for magic. Some speculated her ability surpassed Queen Zeal's. When the Mammon Machine was constructed, she was given a special Pendant to control it and other Sealed Doors. Her brother Janus was said to have gotten along well with Schala. She deeply cared for her younger sibling and looked out for him. Perhaps only she and Melchior knew of Janus' true power as well, for Janus expressed feeling the Black Wind to her at times. Schala also visited Algetty, where she entertained the children there and convened with the Elder. The people of Algetty later remarked that only Schala treated them as equals. After Crono's team was captured in her era, she mercifully released them in hope that they would in turn free Melchior from The Mountain of Woe. Unfortunately, The Prophet forced her to seal the Gate from which they arrived after they went back through. Schala seals the Gate. After Melchior was freed and the party regrouped among the Earthbound Ones, Schala noted that she had refused to help bring the Ocean Palace to full speed. Dalton soon kidnapped her, threatening to kill her if action were taken against him. There, she was forced to use the Pendant to unlock the Mammon Machine's full potential, which caused the Ocean Palace Incident. Aghast at the wild energies and dark auras erupting from the Machine, she attempted to stop it but was shocked into submission by her mother. In her last gesture, she transported Magus and the remaining party members away after Crono was killed in his attempt to save her and stop Lavos. This was her final appearance; she remained behind amid the collapsing palace. The only solace concerning her demise came at the ending of Chrono Trigger, when Magus noted that he would search for Schala in 12000 BC without fail. After defeating Lavos, it would become his life's objective. One of the unexplained mysteries of Chrono Trigger is what occurred regarding Schala in the Lavos Timeline during the original Ocean Palace Incident. Since her pendant was passed down to Marle, it is generally accepted that Schala was able to transport herself and possibly her mother out of the Palace before its collapse (her mother's absence tidily explaining why the Black Omen never originally arose). She also makes an appearance in the DS version of Chrono Trigger as part of the Dream Devourer, the secret final boss and the Time Devourer's unevolved form. She and the being were somehow bound both physically and mentally. After "defeating" the Dream Devourer she has a conversation with Magus. She regains control of herself for a limited time and teleports Crono's team away. She then tells Magus he cannot hope to save her as long as people lean on the crutch of power. The other Magus then becomes angry and erases his memories in an attempt to do as Schala asks and save her without "power". He finds he is in the woods with no memories except that he is in search of something.
