A hero who dislikes his job, Link is a teenage Hylian who goes around the medieval kingdom of Hyrule and slays evil monsters created by Ganondorf's black magic. Link would've preferred to stay home in bed, but the call of the Three Golden Goddesses forced him to travel abroad, cleansing Hyrule of a corruptive influence stemming from an alternate dimension. Along the way he met and befriended an imp named Midna who was skilled in the magical arts; together they fought their way through the ranks of Ganondorf's monster army and confronted the mage himself, who Link then defeated in single combat.

Link played a small role in the Subspace War, assisting other various heroes in confronting the Subspace Army and defeating Tabuu. This is the first time that this particular Link has entered the Smash Bros. Tournament (previous tournaments were attended by another Link, the Hero of Time), but thanks to the Subspace War, he is nonetheless familiar with such legendary people as Mario and Kirby.

A princess from the Twilight Realm, Midna was cursed by black magic and turned into an imp when a subordinate of hers staged a coup and stole her throne. She traveled to Hyrule in search of help and found Link, instead. The two hit it off and became friends, though not without mutual misgivings initially. She's a bit of a prankster and gets riled up easily, making her Link's favorite target to tease. She's also extremely skilled in the ways of magic, and tends to enjoy demonstrating this when Link goes too far.

Unlike Link, Midna is new to This World and did not participate in the Subspace War. She instead relies on Link to be her navigator and guide while she adjusts to this strange new place.

Kirby is a pink puffball who hails from Planet Popstar. He's a simple creature who prefers eating and sleeping above all other activities, and has the unique ability to use his mouth like a high-powered vacuum cleaner to suck in all nearby objects and swallow them. With a cast-iron stomach that can digest anything and a seemingly limitless appetite, Kirby can be dangerous when he's hungry.

However, Kirby is a nice guy at heart, and though simple-minded, prefers to merely go about his own business and not hurt anyone. Unfortunately he tends to get placed in situations where he must fight for self-defense, in which case he shows off another skill, the ability to copy the moves of any opponent he swallows.

Being one of the first 12 trophies to be created in This World, Kirby is quite used to the place. Over the years he has grown familiar with the other 11 Smashers that were created with him, and has traveled on many adventures with them. He was a primary figure during the recent Subspace War and played a key role in eventually defeating Tabuu.

Ness is a twelve-year-old who saved the planet. No joke. He and his group of similarly-aged friends once defeated an evil force of aliens bent on conquering all of space-time. Of course, they had a bit of help: Ness has psychic powers, y'see, and he fought the aliens off by rockin' out with mind bullets.

Ness has also been a member of the Smash Bros. since the first game. He's pretty experienced at it, and it shows.

Zero is a Reploid; a robot with the ability to think and make his own decisions, unhindered by programming restraints. He hails from a world where his kind are a common occurance, and where Reploids occasionally choose to attack humans. These "Mavericks", as they were called, wound up sullying the name of the entire reploid race, and caused a backlash of negativity that resulted in most reploids being hunted down and "retired" (i.e. destroyed).

Zero was a member of a Resistance force that struggled to keep the surviving Reploids alive. Unfortunately, all good things must end; during the process of destroying an orbital laser weapon that was targeting the Resistance base, Zero himself was blown to smithereens. The next thing he knew, he woke up in This World as a trophy.

Being a newcomer, Zero knows little to nothing about Smash Bros. or its participants. Here's hoping his cold attitude and reactionary nature don't get him killed.

Ganondorf is an evil, sadistic bastard hellbent on conquering the world. He redefines the word "villain" and shows absolutely no remorse over his vile deeds. Originally he was king of the Gerudo race in western Hyrule, but over time has become so warped by his own ambitions that he bears little resemblance to his original self. In his right hand he holds the Triforce of Power, a holy relic that is ironically used to command his vast armies of unholy monsters. And he only has a fraction of the Triforce, too; the other pieces lie with Link and Princess Zelda. Ganondorf will stop at nothing to obtain these missing parts and command the entirety of the Triforce, which would grant him power to dominate all creation.

Ganondorf has been a part of This World twice now, in various incarnations from Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. He remains the only character ever known to have left This World at some point, only to return later in a different form. During the Subspace War, he led Master Hand's Subspace Army under the hopes of ursurping the glove in the end and becoming ruler himself, but discovered to his dismay that he had been duped by Tabuu. Furious, he helped the heroes smite the omnipotent being and restore order to the world. He now rests in his secret lair, regaining his power and making new plans...
