Name of Location:
Kokiri Forest (Lost Woods and Sacred Grove being parts of it)
Neighboring Locations:
It's a subsection of The Forest.
Bestiary:
Deku Scrubs
Deku Babas (and Big Babas)
Keese (and Fire Keese)
Deku Likes
Hylian Hornets
Skulltulas (and Walltulas)
Skull Kids (and Stalfos)
Appearence:
A very, very old wood. This forest has been growing so long, the trees tower until they seem to kiss the clouds. Foliage grows so thick, a visitor can only travel a short distance before having to detour. The canopy intertwines into a nearly solid mass, only letting in random shafts of light that give the air below a surreal sort of glow. What air does flow carries along puffs of pollen, flying seeds, and other small flora.
History
The Kokiri Forest is one of the oldest forests in the known world -- in fact, the trees have been growing for so long that many seem to have a consciousness of their own. The oldest and strongest among them, the Great Deku Tree, has even grown powerful enough to creat life: the Kokiri, childlike embodiments of the spirit of the forest. As they were brought to life by the wood itself, the kokiri became the caretakers of those in the wood that could not defend themselves.
This sentient section of the greater world forest was able to recognize that non-residents had a tendency to destroy, easily discerned when trees were felled or creatures hunted. Gradually coming to resent the presence of outsiders, the older and more jaded trees banded their power together to form their own offense against intruders. This group eventually became the Lost Woods -- whose power was so effective that even kokiri occasionally fell victim to their disorienting spell.
For the most part, the Lost Woods simply spit their victims back out where they started after a few minutes. However, every once in a while, someone is unlucky enough to make it to the depths of the wood before losing their way. When this happens, the victim slowly loses their sense of self over time, until the wood has completely devoured their very soul. The confused body left behind is left to infest the Lost Woods as either a mischivous imp (a skull kid) or an aggressive beast (a stalfos).
Events:
Kokiri Forest has no events. Lost Woods events possibly to be added.
Anything Else:
Normally in Zelda, kokiri that stay away from the forest for too long slowly weaken, and eventually die if they don't make it back in time. In this setting, kokiri characters will instead turn to trophies if they spend too much time away. They will not be able to revert from this state unless they are first brought back to their forest.
