Name:
King Dedede
Nicknames:
Dedede
Age:
34 years old
Species:
Penguin
Gender:
Male
Alignment:
Bad (but he's more of an antihero)
Type:
Heavyweight
Residence:
Dream Land
Occupation:
Ruler of DreamLand
Moveset:
Upward: Super Dedede Jump- King Dedede jumps high into the air and then lets himself drop to the ground. His fall creates a huge impact with the ground, or any enemies that happen to be in his way.
Standard: Inhale- The king takes a deep breath. DEEP DEEP breath. He sucks the other players who are nearby and gobbles them up. Though its a copy of Kirby's attack, he can't copy any players' abilities.
Side: Waddle Dee Throw- Dedede throws his minions to attack! Waddle Dees attack for their king, but they deal little damage. Sometimes a Gordo will be sent out instead of a Waddle Dee. Gordos are more powerful and shoot rays from their eye at their king's enemy.
Down: Jet Hammer Dedede's wooden mallet opens and exposes a jet missile hidden inside. However, inorder for it to launch King Dedede must walk and charge it for a while. But if he walks for too much, it'll blow up still in his possession and be take damage.
Final Smash: Waddle Dee Army- King Dedede calls upon his army. Waddle Dees, Waddle Doos, and Gordos appear one by one but they quickly become a swarm.
Weaknesses:
King Dedede is huge...and very slow. He doesn't walk very fast and his attacks aren't so quick either. This leaves him open to attacks in between his own. If his Super Jump misses, Dedede can land off stage and lead to a KO.
King Dedede is also the jealous type, and his envy can lead him to do anything. Sometimes he pushes himself too much to be just like or even better than Kirby. He's also a bit sensitive and more brawn than brains.
Personality:
King Dedede has charisma and is assertive, which is how he took the job of ruler of Dreamland. He is very prone to jealously and enjoys being the ONLY center of attention. He's willing to fight for the spotlight and is extremely competitive. He's also selfish and lazy; he prefers not to mettle with any minor problems in his realm, as oppose to a ruler who handles each and any affair with care and thought. Dedede takes action with his own interest in mind, which usually leads to discomfort for his people.
However, King Dedede isn't completely bad or pure evil. His greed usually creates problems for Dreamland. This is often, which leads the citizens to see him more of a villain than a king. When faced with great danger, Dedede will stop and fight evil to protect Dream Land. His actions are often misunderstood and seem like evil deeds, though he is doing the right thing. When I say this, I mean the time when he broke the Star Rod to protect Dream Land from Nightmare; not when he stole all the kingdom's food and the stars...
He teams up with his arch-rival Kirby at times for Dream Land's sake, despite his jealously of the pink puff-ball, as well as challenge him to some competition. King Dedede abuses his power for his own selfish reasons, but takes his role as king seriously when his land, people, or anyone else are in perilous danger.
Likes:
Being king, eatting, attention, his wooden mallet, training, collecting beautiful/rare objects, money, Dreamland, his people, his allies (mini bosses and bosses), Adeleine
Dislikes: Kirby (with a passion), Nightmare, Dark Matter, not getting what he wants, being ignored, when people don't take him seriously, when people don't pay attention to laws, handling problems, dealing with world affairs, negative attention
Appearance:
History:
Dreamland had always been quiet and a world where inhabitants have lived peacefully with one another. They lived by their own laws and rules with no true ruler, until Dedede decided that they ought to be. He declared himself the king of Dreamland, but nobody paid too much mind to it. Nothing has changed too much under his rein. People continue to live as they please.
His first order as king was: All inhabitants of Dream Land must surrender their food to the new king! . So King Dedede stole all the food supply from his own people...but was stopped by Kirby. Kirby was hailed as a hero, while the king was marked as a villain.
Hoping to win the love of his people, King Dedede pondered on ways he could do so. When his servants alarmed him of an ominous, dark aura appearing in the sky, he didn't show much concern about. His response to it was to nap. To his surprise, he encountered his first nightmare and concluded that the dark aura must have caused it. King Dedede ordered his army to take and break the Star Rod, the object in Dream Land that allows its inhabitants to dream and sleep peacefully. However, breaking the rod not only protected the people from Nightmare, but it also wouldn't allow them to dream at all and become restless. Kirby thwarted his plan and took the pieces of the Star Rod back from Dedede and his allies. After he rebuilt the Star Rod, Nightmare returned and was able to effect the dreams dreamed in Dream Land (:'D). However, Dedede inhaled and spit Kirby with the Star Rod at Nightmare. He defeated the evil and saved Dream Land...again.
King Dedede's reputation continued to suffer and events afterward such as being possessed by the evil Dark Matter and attempting to completely control Dream Land hasn't helped. However, King Dedede continues trying to win the attention and care of his people and showing them he is a much better hero to them than Kirby. His other attempts have include aiding to rescuing Ripple Star from Dark Matter. He continues to be blamed for any trouble or affair in Dream Land, whether its his fault or not.
