"I would love it if you nursed me back to health Gardevoir!" Wigglytuff exclaimed and he looked at Chatot. "And even if you weren't gonna nurse me, I'm not afraid of germs! Germs are afraid of Wigglytuff! So take that Chatot!" He shouted playfully, tapping his chest dramatically as he said it. He them jumped and scrambled back. "I forgot something!" He ran back into the food chamber and popped back out with a perfect apple in his hand.


He then put it between his teeth to carry it as he began to climb the ladder. But by them time he reached the top of the stairs, the apple had disappeared...into his stomach. "Awww man." Wigglytuff said and sighed. "Now I have to go back down and get another one." He pouted and then looked at Chatot expectantly.

"No, Guildmaster," Chatot told Wigglytuff fluttering towards the ladder, "You best save your strength for the long mission ahead of us!" "Allow me to get it for you! I'd be no trouble at all..." Chatot flew down stairs.

Gardevoir watched Chatot leave and waited until she couldn't hear his wings flapping before saying, "C'mon, Wigglytuff! We should get going! We gotta get searching as soon as possible!" She grabbed his stubby, little arms and pulled him towards the exit. "Chatot's smart! He'll figure it out and catch up! I don't want to waste any time!"




Meanwhile in Gardevoir's home in Murky Cave, Gengar and Mudkip were exploring the dungeon. When turning the corner, the Shadow Pokémon noticed a same indent in the wall. It looked like some sort of secret base! And he went to find the place totally torn apart and a complete mess.

"It looks someone already beat us here, Mudkip!" he told him, "They probably swiped all the good stuff too!" He started heading towards the exit but stepped on something. He picked it up and saw it was a small Poké Doll . It looked like a Togepi.

"Ew. Here, Mudkip," he said and tossed it to his partner, "You can have this...! It looks almost as ugly as you! And you can really use some friends!!" He chuckled and continued walking out.

Wigglytuff allowed himself to be pulled towards the exit of the guild and giggled as he said. "Yep! But we have more time without him because I sent him off! See lookie here, friend!" He pulled out a perfect apple from his treasure bag. "I always keep an apple in my bag! So Chatot went back for nothing~!" He hummed. When they exited the guild he looked up and hopped up and down, continuing to hum. "Rain~! Rain~! It's refreshing and helps the flowers grow~! Rain~! Rain~! Oh how I love you so~!"

After he calmed down he pulled out his wonder map again and examined it before closing it up. "We'll take the route that you did to get here. Through Applewoods! There appears to be shorter ways to get there but I think that the routes might be unusable due to these weather conditions. It's even a risk going through apple woods. Why, there's so many trees we might get zapped by lightning!"


Mudkip was pacing back and forth the whole time they were in that so-called secret base. He had the feeling that what they were doing was wrong but he didn't want to say anything to Gengar because then he might not want him to hang around him anymore. He was thankful when he didn't find anything and dashed after the Poké Doll when Gengar tossed it. He tried his best to catch it, he really did, but instead he was hit and knocked over by it. He quickly jumped back to his feet, picking up the Poké Doll with his mouth and running after Gengar as to not get left behind. He thew the doll up and let it land on his back so he could talk. "Thanks, Gengar! I could use this for my training!" He exclaimed happily.

He slowed his pace and looked at the ground when he heard that last bit. "Gengar, I know I don't have many friends. It's because I'm weak, but that's why I'm trying to get stronger!" He said and with sudden determination padded to Gengar's side. "And, you're my friend too! So that means I must not be totally useless!"

It wasn't too long before Gardevoir noticed the weather was much worse than when she first arrived. The rain beat hard on her face and shielded it with her hands. She watched Wigglytuff and sighed. "Rain. Rain. Go away...Come again some other day...!" she began to sing in response to Wigglytuff.

"Oh, dear..." she moaned when she heard she could be electrocuted. She was a bit bothered by how Wigglytuff made it seem like it'd be fun. "Let's just go," she said coldly, turning away and beginning to walk down the road. There was a harsh chill in the air and strong gusts. Gardevoir wrapped her arms around herself as she shivered and regretted not following Chatot's advice; waiting until tomorrow when the weather would clear up.

Meanwhile, Chatot continued to fumble through the food storage. There weren't apples left and his search was fruitless (no pun intended). But he continued to search the place over and over; as if an apple would just appear suddenly if he looked at the right momment.




"Yeahsurewhatever," Gengar barely replied to Mudkip's thanks. He stopped walking when he heard Mudkip call him his friend. "Pffft! Friend!" he mocked. He appreciated Mukip hanging around by his side...especially since his team mates abandoned him after they found out he was once a human; but he didn't want Mudkip to know that.

He turned his head to see Mudkip was right beside him, and jumped a little. He began to walk faster to avoid making eye contact. "Maybe we should blow this taco stand already!" he lied to Mudkip, "It stinks here and the fumes are getting t' me!"

Wigglytuff skipped happily after Gardevoir. Sure the weather was terrible, but he was doing a good thing for his friend and that's all that really mattered. He could put everything else aside when it came down to that. When he saw her shiver he offered, "If you're cold, we could huddle up for warmth~! Like the Piplups do! And I naturally have a high body temperature." He tilted his head to the side. "It doesn't look like you would, you're very slim and have no fur. But I'm nice and plump, and furry! It's only natural that I'd be nice and warm too~!"


Mudkip wondered why Gengar started to go faster all of a sudden and tried his best to keep up. But it was hard for him because of his tiny little legs. He ended up pausing for a second to catch his breath and sniff the air, to Gengar's last statements. "But I don't smell anything bad here..." He said puzzled as he started to walk again. He looked around and kept on smiffing, but he didn't smell anything besides dampness.

He decided to let it drop, however as he thought about training with his new Pok? Doll . "Hey, wait a minute...." Mudkip said aloud. "If you found this over there, then it must be someone else's! They probably dropped it and are looking for it! I can't take it when some poor Pok?mon is probably crying and looking for this! Hey, I know, we should go to Wigglytuff's Guild! If there's a place to bring lost items, it's there! That place is famous you know?"

Gengar turned around to Mukip after hearing his suggestion. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. It was so cute...it was DISGUSTING. "Argh! Shut up, Mudkip! I hate when you talk like a good guy! It's sickening..." He walked off, but thought about it for a second.

"On second thought..." Gengar said, scratching his chin, "Maybe returning that doll is a good idea. If that ugly thing belongs to someone and is missed, there's gotta be some kinda reward for it!" He chuckled loudly and sinisterly. "MAN! I'm smart!" he walked past Mudkip to head to the exit, "Where do I come up with this stuff?"



"Aw!" Gardevoir swooned, "Piplups are so cute! They're like little baby chicks!" She hurried to Wigglytuff and cuddled up with him again. He felt warm compared to the weather, but was cool and wet because of the rain. She picked him up and walked forward with him in her arms. "Maybe Chatot'll bring us a umbrella!" She squeezed Wigglytuff tightly and held him close as a sudden and strong wind passed.

Wigglytuff was a bit surprised by the fact that Gardevoir was able to pick him up, he always thought he was a tad overweight from all the apples he munches on, but then again he learned from his own experience to never judge the strength of a Pokémon by its looks. He couldn't help but blush as she hugged him tight, heck even the thought of her arms around him drove him crazy. But all inappropriate thoughts were dropped when a huge gust of wind hit him which sent a numerous amount of chills through his body. It puzzled him, the fact that he couldn't seem to stop shivering but he came to the conclusion that it was because he was giving all his heat to Gardevoir and tried his best to ignore the cold, and think of other things....


Mudkip smiled and cheered when Gengar gave the approval to go to the guild. "This is going to be so exciting!" He exclaimed and ran in circles around the ghost Pokémon until he started to feel dizzy. He shook it off quickly enough though and walked next to his companion, with a hop to his step. He was just so excited that he couldn't contain it! "Hey, you know what?! There are so many stories out there about Wigglytuff! They say he's like the STRONGEST Pokémon in the area! And, you know what else? I hear he could sleep with his eyes open! That takes talent!"

Gardevoir quickly noticed Wigglytuff shivering in her arms and was concerned. "Are you alright?" she asked, "You're kinda quiet and you're never kinda quiet!" She stopped and sat behind a large tree that was off the road. She rested Wigglytuff on her lap, "Maybe we should stop for a little bit...We haven't been walking for long but its worse than I thought out here!"




Gengar watched Mudkip run around him, and around and around and around. Bleck. And got dizzy. He stumbled a little and then held his head. He made a mental note never to give Mudkip Rare Candy ever again. His dizziness turned to jealously when Mudkip started raving about Wigglytuff. Gross.

"Those aren't stories! Those are rumors! And rumors are hardly ever true!" he exclaimed. His loud, angry voice rung through the emptiness of the cave. "Only a lazy, scaredy baby would teach themselves to sleep with their eyes open! So they can seem awake when boring stuff's happening or at night they can keep an eye out in the dark for Pokémon like me! And if Wigglytuff's so strong, he would be able to smack around Ghost Pokémon! But he CAN'T! So he's not so tough...!"

He walked out of the cave with his chest puffed out and lips pouted, full of pride. "You need a better, stronger role model, Mudkip... Someone like me!" he grinned.

Wigglytuff immediately snapped out of it. He focused his energy to not stammer while talking. Wigglytuff wasn't going to let the cold or the chills get the best of him! "OH! I'm just peachy, Gardevoir~! It's only a tiny bit cold but nothing I can't handle~!" He said and then added. "We should keep on going. We'll be fine, friend! If we stop, we'll just be outside longer and that's no good!"


Mudkip jumped back when he heard Gengar yell. An angry Gengar was NOT good and very scary. "B-but." Mudkip whimpered. "You may be right about rumors, and you should know and all cause you sure spread a whole lot of them, but that doesn't really change the fact that Wigglytuff did a lot of good deeds and discovered tons of new places." He said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.

He raised his voice to Gengar's last statement. "You don't know a thing about role models! Sure you're strong, and a good friend to me but that's not what a role model is! A role model is a Pok?mon that young Pok?mon could look up to, as a hero. But you're such a bad influence, you could never be a good role model!" After the words left his mouth, he began to feel remorse and wondered if what he said was too harsh. There was some truth to what he said but then again, he knew that he just got caught up in the moment like he usually did...

"If you say so," Gardevoir sighed. "But I'm carrying you the rest of the way! You seem a bit off...!" she said in a stern tone and even wagging a finger in his face. "And if you refuse--We're gonna turn around, mister!"

With that, Chatot felt something deep inside. Almost like a sort of disturbance. It was a stirring in his stomach, almost nauseous feeling. He was slowly hopping to the ladder in despondence from his failed attempt to get an apple when he felt so. He thought about it and then quickly flew up the ladder and to the entrance; only to find that Wigglytuff and Gardevoir weren't there! He came to the conclusion that the feeling was triggered by the two being in some sort of trouble. His Wigglytuff senses were tingling!




Gengar only looked at Mudkip as he burst out like that. At first he stood in shock that he was yelling and raising his voice to someone else. Then he realized he was bad mouthing him, and he didn't like it very much, and he wouldn't stand for it.

He went up to Mudkip and violently threw the back of his hand at the water Pokémon's face. It landed with a loud SMACK. He looked down at him with a large frown and paralyzing glare; then backed away and turned around.

Wigglytuff nodded. "Ok!" He exclaimed all too happily. He would love to be carried by the beautiful and elegant Gardevoir for as long as he can. There weren't going to be too many chances like that, considering that Chatot is almost always hovering around him.


Mudkip was in a state of complete and utter shock when he felt Gengar's hand make contact with his face. He was knocked back a yard or two and crashed into the ground, hard. He didn't feel the pain, however of the impact but rather a cold feeling that spread through his tiny body. All he could think of was that it was Gengar's hand that hit them, and that made his heart ache. He lay motionless on the ground as emotions rushed through him. He was confused, upset, sad, lonely, and hurt all at the same time and it overwhelmed him.

Mudkip slowly stood up from where he fell, his legs trembling and like an abused puppy, slowly and unsurely started to follow Gengar again, his face stinging from the smack and a tear or two sliding down his face.

Gengar continued to walk ahead of Mudkip, only much farther away from his partner than he usually did. He seemed to show no regret for what he had done and remained silent. He wouldn't look behind him to see check on him or make any eye contact. He just looked straight ahead without a word for the whole way to Treasure Town. No "Don't do that again". No "That'll teach ya" or "Shudda' up!".



Chatot flew in hyper speed to the fork in the road outside of the Guild. He looked down all three roads quickly, trying to see if they were still around. He didn't take too long. They couldn't have gotten far.

He spotted Wigglytuff's footprints in one of the muddy roads and followed them without thinking twice. At the speed he was going, it wasn't long before he was able to make out Gardevoir's silhouette in the distance. "G-Guildmaster! G-Gardevoir!" he called out from the distance. The rain smacked him hard in the face and beat down on his wings, making it difficult to fly. But he didn't notice, he kept on going, he had more important things to worry about than some storm.



"Look, Wigglytuff!" Gardevoir cried, "Its Chatot!" There was excitement in her voice but then she was disappointed to see that, "He didn't bring an umbrella! How dreadful!"

At that point, Wigglytuff felt like he couldn't get any colder. "Ch-ch-ch-chatot!" Wigglytuff exclaimed through his chattering teeth. "n-n-n-need w-w-warmth" He said breathlessly and yoinked the bird Pok?mon right out of the air once he was close enough. He held onto Chatot tightly, trying to steal any warmth from him that he can, but he didn't feel any better. Of course on the outside, any Pok?mon in contact with him would notice his increasingly rising temperature, he was practically burning up! Wigglytuff started to pant. "I d-don't f-f-f-feel so-" his sentence was left unfinished as he lost consciousness.


Like Gengar, Mudkip remained silent. He was still mulling over what happened. The spot where he was hit had become a dark bruise and was starting to swell, but Mudkip paid no mind. Occasionally on their way, he would open his mouth to ask Gengar something but ended up closing his mouth quickly due to lack of courage. Gengar, do you hate me now?

"Guildmaster! It was 5 minutes and I had no idea where you were!" Chatot bawled. He let Wigglytuff take him in his arms, but when he rested his head on the guild master, there was burning where there should've been just warmth. "Guildmaster! You're burning up!" he cried as he felt Wigglytuff's forehead.



"I told you you would get ill! Now look at you! You're sick as a Growlit-!" but Chatot stopped scolding when he saw that Wigglytuff was knocked out. He easily escaped his grasp and fluttered away, facing Gardevoir. "This is terrible! We need to go back to the guild now!"

Gardevoir looked down at Wigglytuff and thought about it for a moment. "But what about Sprinkles?" she had to ask.

"Yes, sir..." Gardevoir said and turned around. She looked down at her feet the whole way back to the guild, like a scolded child (which she was on the inside). When they returned to the guild, Gardevoir was ordered to place Wigglytuff in a nice, dry bed to rest.

"This bed is made of the softest straw and prettiest flowers I can find~!" she cheered. She noticed her excitement was a little inappropriate and countered with, "Its such a shame he's in this condition! P-poor him!"

"Yeah. Hopefully we won't have to amputate anything! E hyeh hyeh hyeh!" Croagunk teased.

"What does ampootate mean?" Bidoof asked Sunflora.

"It means kiss to make the boo boo go away, deary," she said.

"Aw!"

Wigglytuff remained unconscious...


When they got there, Mudkip temporarily forgot about what had just happened and exclaimed. "W-we're here!" He rushed inside the guild, running over the grate without stopping, as Diglett was not in his sentry duty post, and going inside.


"Intruder alert! Intruder alert!" Diglett shouted when Mudkip came in.


"WHOSE FOOTPRINT? WHOSE FOOTPRINT?" Loudred asked, in his booming voice.


"I'm not sure!" Diglett exclaimed.


"WHAT?!" Loudred exclaimed. "What do you mean you're not sure!"


"I've never seen a footprint like this before! I don't know what I don't know! I think...it's Mudkip!"


"Hmph! Alright, it is Mudkip. Come on in!"


Mudkip stared at diglett and Loudred and was immediately intimidated. He watched their squabble but didn't really hear what they were saying. All he knew was that they were yelling and he didn't like it! He wished he could go and hide behind Gengar....Gengar....He lowered his head sadly when he heard the louder Pokémon say he could go in. He looked around, and was amazed. There were a lot of Pokémon there, and they all just seemed to be hanging in the room. But her heard a lot of commotion. They all seemed to be talking about something.

Mudkip looked around and decided to run up to a kind looking Sunflora. "Um, excuse me? What's going on here?" He asked looking around. "There seems to be a lot of fussing going around. I just came here to see if I could return something I found that might belong to another Pokémon, but this place looks like it's kind of busy now. I could go away and come back later!" Mudkip then thought about it. Gengar probably wouldn't want to leave and come back another time. He would yell at him for making him go all the way over there for nothing and wasting time. Gengar...
