Personal Relationships:
Mario – Yoshi once was Mario’s guardian as a baby. They met later in life when Bowser took over the Dinosaur kingdom and have since been friends. Yoshi has taught Mario some of his unique Yoshi fighting tactics, and also aided Mario in understanding Yoshi’s language.
Princess Peach – Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Yoshi is kind to her and she is kind to him.
Luigi – Mario’s younger brother. Yoshi rescued him from Baby Bowser as an infant. The two are still friends but share fewer adventures together.
Bowser- Scourge of the Mushroom Kingdom. One of the few people Yoshi tends to treat with prejudice. Bowser did help him a bit, however, in putting a curse on Yoshi that causes him to transform into an egg.
Link – Hero of Hyrule. Yoshi has become friends with him through the smash tournament, and Yoshi occasionally goes to Hyrule Forest for a restful vacation.
Occupation:
None. Yoshi is a free roaming adventurer, able to go where he pleases.
Moveset: (Some taken from Smash Wiki.)
Yoshi is slightly faster than average, but his attacks do average damage. He has one of the highest normal jumps of any character. However, he has difficulty with the traction of his feet and is known to slip slide over an arena in which he’s fighting. Yoshi is capable of constantly being in motion launching attacks against his opponent, but his lack of traction and average hit-taking ability make him a mixed bag when it comes to fights.
Special Moves: (Mandatory)
All "B" attacks are the "Special Moves" the characters can use. (Example: Bowser's Fire Breath.)
Standard Attack – Egg Lay – Yoshi rapidly sticks out his tongue to swallow an enemy and incase him in an egg. The enemy nside the egg can break free, but it takes longer depending on their damage ratio.
Upward Attack – Egg Toss – Yoshi throws an egg projectile in an arch over his head. Ideal for hitting enemies on ledges, and it also doubles as a recovery move, keeping Yoshi suspended while he makes the toss.
Downward Attack – Yoshi Bomb – Yoshi does his patented stomp attack. It is capable of a good amount of knockback based on an opponent’s damage, and can also do minimal knockback if the two sideways stars Yoshi creates when he hits the ground come into contact with the enemy.
Side Attack – Egg Roll – Yoshi incases himself in an egg and rolls rapidly back and fourth doing minimal knockback damage. The egg’s spin increases its hit power the longer Yoshi stays inside it.
Regular Attacks: (Optional)
Neutral Attack- Left kick, then right kick. Deals 9% if both hit.
Dash Attack- Running headbutt that causes 9% damage.
Forward Tilt- Tail flick. Causes 9% damage.
Down Tilt- Low tail whip. The attack does more damage the closer the opponent is to Yoshi. Hitting with the larger section of Yoshi's tail causes 10% damage and hitting with the tip causes 5% damage. Up Tilt- Tail uppercut. Deals 11% damage.
Aerials: (Optional)
Neutral Aerial- Single kick. Causes 12% damage.
Forward Aerial- Headbutt with the capability to spike. Deals 15-16% damage.
Back Aerial- Quadruple tail whip. Causes a maximum of 14% damage.
Down Aerial- Flutter kick. Very high damaging attack. Causes a maximum of 33% damage.
Up Aerial- Does a flip and hits hard upward with his tail, good knockback too.
Smash Attacks: (Optional)
Forward Smash- Headbutt that causes 16% damage uncharged and 22% damage fully charged.
Down Smash- Double tail whip (hits on both sides). Causes 14% damage uncharged and 19% fully charged. Hitting a behind opponent causes 1% less damage.
Up Smash- Upward headbutt. Deals 16% uncharged and 22% fully charged. The attack can hit behind opponents and cause the same amount of damage.
Grabs: (Optional)
Pummel- Chews on the opponent.
Forward Throw- Spits the opponent out.
Back Throw- Spits the opponent backward.
Up Throw- Spits the opponent upward.
Down Throw- Jumps up and spits the opponent hard into the ground.
Taunts: (Optional)
Up: Dances around in a circle and says "Yoshi!".
Side: Spins around, chasing his tail, then looks at it.
Down: Waves to the screen, saying "Yup! Yup!"
Final Smash:
Super Dragon – Yoshi grows wings and is able to fly freely, and can do about 8% damage by touching his opponent. If no buttons are pushed for about three seconds, Yoshi will start to breath a continuous stream of fire which causes very heavy damage (up to 60%). In addition, he can shoot fireballs, that do about 25% damage each, by pressing A or B. The Final Smash lasts about 20 seconds.
Weaknesses:
Yoshi is extremely kind and naive. He trusts everyone except for people who bully him or people with purely evil vibes. He can be childish and stubborn at times, and has a tendency to rush into trouble. He has certain phobias to things like water and ghosts, though he has been working to overcome them. Yoshi also interests himself largely with his own pleasure, seeking fruit and nice resting places over true adventure. He can be easily lured into a trap if someone uses fruit as bait.
Personality:
Yoshi is a purely happy, kind-hearted, happy-go-lucky individual. Its his natural instinct to always smile, sing and giggle. Yoshi is not foolish, however, and when he sees evil or wrongdoing he puts it upon himself to leap into action using his amazing abilities to their fullest potential. A close friend of Mario’s, he shares the plumbers sense of justice, and, while he rarely ventures into battle on his own, he is an indispensable helper to any hero he joins forces with. In quiet moments, Yoshi is very easy going. He likes tropical breezes, and fruit. He is also a big wanderer, venturing across the land to any place he finds comfortable.
Likes:
Anything that seems happy and peaceful. Tropical climates. Food. His friends. Naps.
Dislikes:
Bullies. Evildoers. Being hit. Things that taste bad.
Appearance:
Yoshi is a green-skinned, frog-eyed, dinosaur with big droopy eyes, a round nose, and red spines, who wears a red saddle on his back and brown boots.
History:
Yoshi’s first adventure came to him when the stork accidentally dropped a baby onto his head. Yoshi took the baby to his friends and made a plan with a group of other Yoshis to carry the baby through the jungle and to the home of his parents. They fought the legions of enemies concocted by the evil wizard Kamek, and a young Bowser Koopa to bring the baby and his twin brother to their rightful home. That baby turned out to be Mario, who not long became a hero in his own right and was highly influenced by the tribe of Yoshi who raised him. Yoshi's adventure with the baby Mario didn't end there, as Kamek made another attempt to liquidate 'the star children,' another group of baby heroes who would plague Bowser in the future. Yoshi became aquainted with baby Peach, Baby Donkey Kong, and Baby Wario as the toddlers teamed up with him to defeat not only Baby Bowser, but a fully adult Bowser from the future. Yoshi occasionally rushed in to aid Baby Mario in what would soon become a lifelong battle between the little hero and Bowser, but once Mario became mature enough, the two parted ways.
Yoshi and Mario would later meet years later, when, on a vacation to Dinosaur World, Bowser Koopa took over Yoshi's new home: Dinosaur Land, kidnapping the Yoshi and trapping them in eggs. Mario broke the curse on Yoshi and together they defeated Bowser and rescued Yoshi’s kin. Yoshi has since been on many adventures on his own, largely tied to his wandering about searching for new places to call home. Sometimes he is with other Yoshi, other times he is alone. Sometimes he encounters Mario, other times he doesn’t. On one rare occasion, in the world of trophies, he ran across Link in the lost woods upon his obtaining the legendary Master Sword. However, not long after Link obtained the word, the Primids appeared and filled the woods. Yoshi aided Link in fighting throw the woods, and as later reunited with Mario, as well as Pit, and Kirby. Together they formed a team that traveled through Subspace, eventually defeating the mysterious enemy known as Tabuu. Once Yoshi helped deal with the usurper of the trophy world, he returned to his peace loving fruit-filled lifestyle. His is the super happy life, but still, Yoshi remains ready to take on any evil that may cross his path.
