Yoshi's Isle - The Tomboy Mermaid

The neighboring dinosaur island of Sauria Region, Yoshi's Island, would pretty much be a odd place next to a land of 'realistic' dinosaurs. What is odd was this island was homed by a different species of dinosaurs, which are an odd cartoony kind of creatures. Even the island they live on has a story-book feel to it. Most of the trees and hills have eyes, and it almost looked like a child colored most of the island.

But despite all of this, the species of Yoshi's Island are far more friendly than those of Sauria. So hopefully they wouldn't mind a visitor taking a break on the island, right?

"Alright, just step in, nice and easy."

A snout and goofy-looking duck shuddered at the gentle waves rushing over the sandy shore. "Ps-Ps-Pssssyyyy!"

"I'm not gonna help you this time. You can do it on your own; you had been improving....sort of..."

Sitting on a rock by the shore was a red-haired girl in a purple sea-shelled bikini, and what appeared to be...a green fish tail instead of legs. Yes, a young mermaid was waiting for a scared Pokémon, called a Psyduck, to jump in the water and swim.

Yoshi was walking through the woods as he often did after a full stomach. The super happy tree had been especially generous with its watermelon today so his stomach had been particularly full, and the walk had been particularly long. Through the day he'd gone from his little house at the top of one of the peaks of the island down to this shoreline. He stopped when he saw someone else on the shore, and rustled the bushes in front of him to peek over the tops to see what was there. (Is that a fish...?) He wondered it out loud, of course if Misty were to hear it it'd sound like a zippy growl "Hrrrmmm..."

With the sound of the ocean rushing in the shore, the mermaid couldn't hear Yoshi. "Come on, Psyduck! Just step in slowly. The water isn't that rough!"

"Ps-Ps-sssssy!" With slow steps, his webbed feet waddled on the 'crust' of the rolling waters. Psyduck carefully walked, watching his feet dissappear in the waters the deeper he went. The duck felt confidence slowly rising out of the ashes as he thought that swimming in the shallow part of the ocean should be enough to help him learn how-

Then out of nowhere, a large wave arose like a whale's mouth diving in to grab its prey. Psyduck was crushed under the exploding waters, lost from the mermaid's sight.

Her body tensed as her Pok?mon vanished. "Psyduck?!?"

The goofy webbed-one resurfaced, but, so to say, 'hanging on a string'. Wildly, the duck swung his arms about, trying to fight the depths below that's trying to pull him. But his mere strength couldn't do a thing against the waves pulling him away from the shore.

Groan, the mermaid did. Standing on her hands, she carried her fish-tail on the rock so to stand on it. Squating down, her tail acted as a spring to catapult her high into the air, diving far away from the shore.

"Waaah!" Yoshi swiftly took a leap in the air and splashed into the water. He glided through the water with rapidly paddling hands and feet. He outsped Misty to the thrashing duck creature and darted forth his tongue in an attempt to catch the creature.

"PSSSY!!!" Not even Jaws could compare to the mouth of a Yoshi as poor Psyduck was reeled into into Yoshi.

Not even with her massive swimming speed could the mermaid reached Psyduck before Yoshi's tongue. "HEY!!!!" she roared, even though she's underwater. [rand=297807992626148044620364750608088655841691972553574761333584997101]

Yoshi sped back around to the shore. When Misty found him he was sitting on the shore with a head swollen by a newly consumed Psyduck.

A wave crashed on the shore, carrying the angry mermaid there. She slid on the muddy sand with her tail, but she still glared at the Yoshi as if she wasn't trying to perform that stunt.

"Give...me...back my PSYDUCK!!!"

Yoshi happily obliged. He spit the psyduck on the ground in front of him lowering his head so as not to hurt the animal any more than it was. Then he looked up at the young mermaid and gave an obliging grin. "Yoshi."

She crawled up to Psyduck's body, dragging her tail through the sand. "Psyduck!! Are you okay?"

The duck sat up, wobbily like jello. He smiled, waving his arms to his trainer like he wanted a hug. Sadly he was looking a little gooey. "Psy Psy!!!"

She gritted her teeth in disgust. "Ugh! No hugs, you're slimey!"

Yoshi lowered his head between fish and duck-thing, his large black eyes rolling between them. Once he raised his head up, he made a very happy face as though he was relieved that the duck-like thing was safe. "Hoohoohoo!"

She made a wirly frown at the green dino who tried to eat her Pok?mon. Though he did spit him out, and he didn't run off with Psyduck. Maybe the thing was trying to save him. She now felt a little ashamed for atempting to be suspicious of the green Pok?mon...if it is a Pok?mon. She is far away from the Pok?mon regions, anyways.

"Uh...thanks for helping." she said to the Yoshi. Even though she was capible of saving Psyduck, it was sweet of the green guy to help.

Yoshi gave a satisfied nod. But then he looked back down at the fish. She was out of water? That had to be dangerous. It was a rare fish, so putting her back in the open sea would be dangerous. Yoshi stretched his mind to think of a nearby lake not swarming with cheep-cheeps to deposit her in.

"Hup!" Yoshi reached down with his head and pushed the mermaid girl onto his head. She slid down her neck onto the shell on his back. Before she had time to protest he began dashing forward at a great speed.

"HEEEY!!!" Everything happened so fast, and the next thing she knew, she was on the dino's back, hanging for dear life as he ran. "Where are you taking me??"

"PSSSSYY!!!!" And its action-hero Psyduck to the rescue as he raced after the kidnapper; flapping his arms as he did. But alas, a child in a toy scotter could outrun him as the Yoshi dashed out of sight.

"Psyduck!!!" While she has a belt with poke-balls on them, she can't reach one; her arms are too busy.

Yoshi dashed well into the middle of an open lake with Misty in tow, depositing her in the middle of the clear blue water. He moved back a few feet, attempting to admire the girl-fish in its natural environment. That's when it struck him that he'd left the duck-thing in tow. "Awowowowo!" It leaped out of the water and scrambled back to the shore of the lake, speeding to the duck-thing's rescue a second time.

"HEY!!! What was that for??" Sadly, her angry screams fell on deaf ears. The mermaid couldn't understand why that thing just dumped her in this lake. Was he...collecting mermaids or something? Well, she wasn't going to allow that creature treat her like this.

The mermaid climbed up to the edge, resting her fish tail on the grass. Taking a deep breath, her body bathed in heavenly light. Her glowing tail suddenly began to split apart, both forming into thin 'tails' with feet on its ends.

The light dimmed, and what took the mermaid's place was a girl with shorter red hair. She wore a light-blue jacket over a yellow swimming top. She also wore blue shorts matching the color of her jacket, and she had red sneakers. While her clothes were dry, her body and hair was soaked. But that didn't seem to be a bother to her, for the girl stood up, righteously with a frown, and marched out after the Yoshi.
