Samus stood there for a moment as the last of her beam faded. Within moments, her Power Suit alerted her of all it's power being drained only to be followed after by the loud hissing of armor unhinging and powering down. This was to be followed by a clanking of each piece that seemed to strike Samus as if her heart was beating between her ears, thumping as each piece fell to the ground, before resigning itself back to the ship. Time stood still for the Chozonian, before the disaster that she had caused fell upon with such a force that she fell to her knees. Her ears rang with the screams of terrified spectators, the wails of those in horrible pain from the heat of the Zero Lazer. After what seemed an eternity, Samus finally lifted her eyes to see what lay before her. In the distance, she saw buildings laid to rubble, cars destroyed and on fire, trees burning like torches of hatred she herself bore moments ago. People lay as statues, others were badly injured to the point they were begging to become one themselves. Children were crying as their parents stood over them, now a cold stone on a gold base. Her eyes moved closer, only to view more of the same. Death, pain, screaming.... ...the same screaming of those years ago as pirates killed those she loved, as Ridley tore through parents she talked to...as she screamed as Ridley ate her father before her very eyes. She saw herself in the children, just for a moment. Just for a moment she saw herself in the very place of the man she swore to kill. "SAMANTHA!!!" She focused on now what was a badly burnt cameraman standing over scorched concrete. Where was Samantha??? You destroyed her...Samus stared for a moment, then began to shake as tears flowed freely. She had done this. She killed a woman who had done no true wrong. She had become Ridley, every space pirete, every Ing, every metroid, every enemy she had killed in the name of something even remotely good. She had become the very thing she swore to kill as a youth back on Zebes. Weeping, Samus punched commands into the controls on her wrist. Incoherently mumbling the same thing over and over as her ship landed and she stumbled onboard her ship. "I am sorry, Old Bird. I am sorry Blues. I am sorry, everyone." And the helmet of her own statue seemed to look upon her ship in shame as she took off into the stratosphere, to the only place where Samus could truely be alone, the far reaches of space.

The blast had nearly caught Protoman off guard, and he was only saved b virtue of the act he already had his shield placed between him and Samus... not that it helped much. One moment, there was only furious wind ripping around him and those few fortunate enough to have been behind him, and the next, his visor was cracking from heat stress, his systems SHRIEKING at him about how close to critical core temperature he was. And as soon as it had begun... it was over, people lying around him, groaning in pain, as his diagnostics began telling him to seek repair immediately. But none of this mattered to the boy android... as he collapsed, all of his damage overwhelming the feeble patchwork repairs he'd made earlier, causing sparks to begin crackling around his body. And the last thing he saw, as he fell to the ground with a quiet clank, was Samus, running towards her ship, three words blazing over the image silently, almost accusing the fleeing woman even as his blue eyes darkened behind the shattered remains of his visor. Emergency Shutdown Initiated Then... darkness... And the first son of Light knew no more.

The Pikachu everyone knew and loved was nowhere to be heard; nowhere to be seen. Trapped by the Zero Lazer under a massive pile of rubble, the yellow mouse lay wheezing, gasping for fresh air and out of terrible pain. Darkness was everywhere; the remains of Samus' statue so thick and dense that no light could penetrate the little bubble Pikachu was fortunate enough to wind up in. Or unfortunate enough, since he was in an incredible amount of pain, perhaps not the worst he had felt, but pain was pain, and no one but a masochist would want to feel it. And so he lay there, badly injured, blind, the outside world muffled by massive amounts of rock, and gasping for air.

Was on his knees, as if the weight of fear was too heavy for him. The sight of the chaos around him was another version of cold weather to him, his spine felt a chill. This was precisely why Brendan never attended to any of these Smash fights; the Smashers were too ... frightening. May carefully peaked over her steel Pokémon, a timid look on her face that wasn't common to her. The power of that blast was too much for her to behold, and what it left ... well she couldn't look without trembling. She couldn't help but think it was her fault. She thought it would be so cool to see something epic like that ... but to see it up close, and what it left ... she felt bad. "No..." He heard the screams from that camera man. "...she's not...?" Now he was shivering. Death was a rare thing in This World, but today it happened. "Lai, Lai!" The 'rhino' answered Zero, his armored body red from the heat. In fact, he was sweating, stepping away from May so she wouldn't touch his heated body.

The Netherworld sure throws a lot at a demon boy, dragons, mothmen, vampires, succubus women. Unfortunately, Laharl had surprisingly not faced something like Samus' stupidly overpowered beam of power; which had taken him by complete surprise by the way. "YOU CRAZY PSYCHO..." The last words of the puny Overlord, as he vanished within the light. When it cleared, all that was left was a statue of said Overlord on the ground, a few feet away from the impact zone. Followed by a deep silence around the demonic boy. And thus, this brings Laharl's 2nd defeat in This World. While we're kicking dead horses, the Prinny from before was still a trophy, and even closer to his now sleeping master. But little did they know that Samus' statue helmet rolled his way, and tapped the base of the Prinny's trophy while still rolling to the city exit. "Dood?" Said the confused Prinny, as he sat up, looking around at the destruction. "Whoa, did someone eat all of Master Etna's pudding again, Dood?!"

Zero nodded upon seeing they were fine, glad that he'd at least protected someone successfully. He stood up again, surveying the room with a critical eye. The people here desperately needed medical services. He was the only one with the capability to call upon such services – he doubted that the phones worked, after all. Raising a hand to the side of his head, Zero activated his comlink. With a bit of scanning, he located the frequency used by communications in this sector. Hacking wasn't exactly his specialty – he left that up to Ciel and the other resistance members most of the time – but there wasn't much security here, so he was able to patch his way into the frequency with a few seconds of work. The digital sound of an old telephone rang in his “ears”. “911 Emergency, how can we help you?” “Hello. I'm at City Hall right now and I just witnessed the discharge of a WMD.” Zero's voice was cool, calm, and collected; the silver lining of his stoic personality was his ability to not panic in these situations. “We have several badly injured citizens in need of immediate medical treatment. How fast can you provide ambulances?” The voice on the other end took on a hurried tone. “We're getting calls from all over the city about this. Large laser beam, right?” “Correct.” “Many of our ambulances are being used at the moment. How many do you need?” Zero looked around the room and did a quick headcount, then calculated what he knew the space capacities of the average ambulance was. “At least fifty.” There was a pregnant pause on the other end of the line, before the person spokee up again. “I've contacted the nearest hospital. Doctors are en route to set up a triage center.” “Thank you.” “Sir, if you don't mind my asking – I need to know for our records. Who are you?” Zero paused for a fraction of a second. “I am...a concerned citizen.” He cut the connection. Looking up, Zero scanned the line of people who'd been waiting for registration in the tournament. A surprising amount of the nearby ones were unharmed. They must've been shielded when the backwash hit... Zero blinked as he noticed a flash of red and yellow on the ground nearby. “Protoman,” He muttered. The other robot wasn't moving – not a good sign. It was much easier for Zero to move through the crowd now that most of them were no longer standing up. He carefully maneuvered through the groups of injured over to the robot's side. Bending down, he did a quick scan and frowned at the results. Protoman wasn't even conscious; the damage had been severe enough to force him into shutdown, a last-ditch resort as far as robotics went. A normal doctor couldn't help this boy...he needed a mechanic, and a good one. Luckily, Zero knew of just such a person... Gently picking up Blues' body, the Reploid made his way back over to where May and Brendan stood. “I must temporarily leave the premises,” He informed them. “Protoman requires help from a robotics expert and the closest one is miles away; it shouldn't take too long to deliver him. Please watch over things here while I'm gone.” Without waiting for a response, he teleported out.

After a few moments, Peach peeked out from behind her makeshift shield to see what disaster had been wrought. The Princess dismayed only for a moment, fighting back the tears welling into her eyes. It was one of few times that as much as she wished it, she was more grateful that Mario wasn't there. At least this time, there was a way she could help. Running over to the nearest injured civilian, Peach began to search within her for magic she had only first used when the Smithy's had attacked her kingdoms so many years ago. She had used the white magic she had picked up since then, especially during the Subspace Incident, and had vowed to herself to never forget it, just in case. Placing her hands over the injured, a white light began to glow from her hands, covering the wounds and healing them in a matter of moments. Allowing them to rest, Peach continued this pattern, healing those she could, and tapping trophies and dressing wounds when she needed to recharge her healing power. In her mind, she had already decided she would give whatever money and aid she could to help pay for the damages her fellow Smasher had brought. She was not angry at Samus in the least. She knew in her heart Samus didn't know this would happen until it was far too late. Still, Samus was foolish, and she would certainly get an earful from the Princess the next time she saw her, after giving her the biggest hug of her life.8

From the deepest insides of City Hall he came, muttering something about loud noises and the ground shaking. The sound of doors being struck open and into the walls was heard, over and over again, getting louder and louder as he came closer. Just some time ago, the state officials that were working in City Hall had been watching down the corridors towards the Hall of Smashers, where this recent drama had taken place and the noises and ruckus had came from. However, once he arrived from his office further in, angry like a hungry injured mother bear with her cubs threatened, they all quickly fled inside their booths and terrifyingly watched him as he passed them and continued down towards the mayhem. Suddenly, the doors to the Hall of Smashers was flung open, and in them stood a man no higher than Mario with big green hair, a burgundy suit and a purple bow tie. Dr. Wright's face was scrunched in rage, which was the sole reason why his co-workers had fled back into their offices in fear when he approached not too long ago. This man, Dr. Wright, was practically one of the greatest sources of calm and happiness in the office. He always had a friendly smile and a couple of words of wisdom to offer. He practically never became angry, irritated, or even annoyed, and if he did he at least never showed it. Now however, his co-workers believed they had never seen him this angry before in all the time they've worked at City Hall. He hadn't been able to get any work done at all with the recent ruckus, and he had tons to do before the tournaments. Why couldn't they just be quite and let him work in peace? He didn't have time to handle riots and disasters at the moment. He was about to question what was happening out here, when noticed the destruction outside. The scorched trees, the crumbling buildings, the pulverized statue, the damaged cars, the trophies and injured people... his beady eyes started to twitch in anger as he noticed the work that had now been added to his "To Do" pile, because he sure as hell wouldn't let that Foreman Spike lay his inferior hands on the neighborhood. He started cursing horribly, uncontrollably, and in Simlish luckily. Anyone nearby with knowledge in said language would probably have to cover their ears in shock... and thankfully for those nearby, Simlish is a language that is nearly impossible to learn as a second one, since it seems to consist of nothing but gibberish and nonsense, and the words seemed to have different meaning every time they're spokeen. "WHAT IS GOING ON OUT HERE?!?" he suddenly shouted to no one in particular, furious about the chaos that were reigning the Hall of Smashers.

The yell echoed through the empty space inside of City Hall, reverberating between its walls and finally escaping out the blown-open doors to the outside world. "That's what I wanna know," A new voice replied to it, from just beyond Samus's statue. Midna sighed, folding her arms and crossing one leg over the other as she mimed sitting in a chair while floating forwards. She'd completely lost track of Link; this city was dense enough to rival the largest settlements in her home dimension, with buildings towering into the sky and streets that spread like spiderwebs between them. Ironically, she needed a guide in order to find her guide. Midna facepalmed. Kirby...that stupid pink puffball Link had told her about. She'd known it was him back there in the forest; it was pretty easy to identify the formless blobs that represented the Dreamlander species, even when you only catch a glimpse of them. She'd stopped being scared a while back when it occurred to her that since they were in a city, Link could easily get medical help if he needed it. This place probably had more than one doctor, it was so huge. Her partner was smart enough to seek out such people if necessary, and besides, he had his bottles. ...If they hadn't gotten smashed during all that bouncing he did, of course... Midna turned to glance behind her, wondering if that freaky masked guy was still following her. Now that she was in an urban setting and surrounded by other people, he didn't seem nearly as scary as when she'd been in the forest...but he (was it a he?) was still creepy and she didn't approve of being shadowed by him. Only she was allowed to shadow people...and by "people", she meant "Link". And by "shadow", she literally meant "become a part of his shadow". Seeing nothing suspicious back in the direction she'd come from, Midna faced forward again. Judging from the rubble and debris everywhere she looked, either some disaster had just occurred or this section of the city was really bad at housecleaning. The statues suggested it probably wasn't the latter, though. They looked clean and well-maintained. Well, except for that collapsed one right there. But hey, other than that. Midna blinked at the pile of broken stone blocks that had once been a carving of power armor. Was it just her imagination, or did she catch a flash of yellow peeking through the cracks?

Meanwhile, the PK Trainers mindlessly stood there, staring where Zero once stood before he teleported. They don't know what stunned them; the fact that Zero can do such a power, or that he wanted them to hold the fort, or some sort...or maybe that they really don't know what to do after everything that happened. However, the boy began to notice the silence between them and decided to wake himself from their trance. "O...kay...so...what now?" May blinked, scanning around. She did wanted to know if that reporter girl died or not, if there was any traces of her. It was scary to dare; what if she witnessed bloody limbs around? But ... she also vowed to never be afraid. "Uh...I'll check outside. Save me a space in line." "But..." His words came too late as the girl dashed outside. "...there's no line right now..." The female trainer stepped down the stairs outside the building, noticing the rubble of the Samus statue on her left. All the limbs were now in piles; nothing but rocky pieces now. May wondered if that reporter lady was buried under all of that...or if anyone else was. Her question was given clues when she saw some sparks peaking through the cracks of the rubble. Maybe ... maybe her mic was crushed and was now sparking. Well May knew what she had to do ... use a poke-ball!! "Go! Blaziken!!" she shouted, throwing the ball toward the rubble. "Lift that stone head to free whoever's under there!!" The ball exploded, and the humanoid bird leaped out and landed on the rubble. "Blaz!!!" Scooping her claws under the head, she lift, but barely did she pulled the stone a few inches off. "GRRRRRR!!!!!" "Aw man!!!" Jumping over the rocks, May joined her Pokémon; helping the fire type lift the rock. But her little muscle power made no difference, even she easily felt the strain. "Jeez!! I knew I should've gave you Strength, girl." However, all was not well with anyone one of the statues. The Mario statue, that stood in the center, its knee was chipped and cracked by the edge of the Zero Laser. And with it weakened, the rest of its leg followed; splitting from its foot. The weight of the world was now too much for the Mario statue to handle on its own GASP! Is this a possible foreshadow?, and its other leg split from its foot. The statue, mostly the world, began to fall towards the building, as well as those nearby, like May and Blaziken. "NO!!!/BLAZ!!!!" The fear in May crippled her balance as she tried to move, but kept tripping on the rocks. Her Pokémon braved against the giant world, prepared to stop it, maybe break it in two with her mighty legs. "HALT, ENORMOUS STONE STRUCTURE!!!" hollered an heroic voice from the sky. On a flying rocket engine, a couple of passengers orbited around the giant stone world held by the falling Mario statue. The rocket easily slid to a stop near the rubble, and its pilot wasted no time to leap off landing on top of the rubble; standing like mighty hero. "Fear not, young citizen!" Jumping off, the strange worm in a walking suit dashed under the falling statue, aimming for the Mario structure "My invincible might shall help me lift this beer gut this mañana!" Holding up his hands, the worm caught the belly of the statue; the force of its weight flowed through the worm's body, shuddering the floor with a hum. "Grck!!!" With all his suit's might, the hero fought to push the statue back to its feet, like a Greek hero keeping a monster's foot from crushing him. "Must...lift...the pudginess!" The giant statue began to stand upright...and rapidly tumble the other way, right into the green, where the people there stood frozen in fear like deers. "Uh oh!" With speed of a cartoon character, the worm raced past the statue, now catching the 'world'. Gritting his teeth, he kept it up on his shoulders. "Grck! How did this came? Now I have the world on my shoulders...Hee-hee! Get it?" Another figure, amungst the awed crowd, ran out of the building, gawking at the awkward being keeping the Mario statue from crushing the people out in the lawn, struggling, maybe. But behind the worm, a woman with a giant red ponytail hurried over under the Mario part and held it up. But where that woman ran from was a familiar frog sitting on a rocket. "Slippy?" The hare dashed around the rubble, hurrying over to the toad. "Slippy, what happened?"

While he was a little more used to the rocket at this point, Slippy was still clinging to it for dear life even after Jim brought it to a stop. It wasn't until Peppy walked over to him that he finally snapped out of his stupor. "Huh?... OH! Peppy!" the toad finally responded, "There you... WOAH!" ... Unfortunately, that caused him to lose his balance and fall off the rocket, landing on his bottom right at Peppy's feet. "Uh... Sorry... Heh, heh..." Slippy apoligized sheepishly as he got up, "I... Um... Gee, how am I gonna explain this?..." Realizing there was really no way to give Peppy a 'brief' summary of what he just went through, the toad quickly tried to change the subject as he looked around at the scene before him. "... I'll explain everything later. What's going on here? It looks like a warzone!"

As the Prinny walked around the rubbled road, he took his sweet time looking around. "Geez, looks like the rebirth of the Makai Wars, dood!" Then he bumped into Laharl's statue, looking up and down at it. "Eh...WHOA!" He smiled. "Now things make sense! Master Laharl took over this world so fast he's even got statues of himself everywhere, Dood!" The penguin looked around the trophy, then at the base. "Aww, but it's all dirty dood..." He started polishing the trophy stand with his flippers. "There, all clea...?!" Suddenly, the trophy erupted in a bright light. Allowing Laharl to reappear. "Ngh...*YAWN*" The puny overlord started stretching out, then looked around. "That always feels weird..." He saw all the destruction around him, obviously from that giant laser beam of death. "Jeez, that crazy chick sure knows how to vent off rage." Then growled. "But dammit! Why do I have to be the target again?!" The little servant of his was just as confused as Cosmo in a smart guy convention his kind always is. "Dood?"

He could hear voices coming from beyond the great wall of rubble. It sounded like they had tried moving some of the boulders away. The little mouse could tell, since there was the sound of of grunting and yelling just beyond his cage. Of course, being about as big as Kirby, and the statue being so large, it meant for his rescuers that they were going to have to move a lot of boulders in order to even find him. If they stopped searching... That didn't sound very pleasant. In fact... This... TINY... DARK... ENCLOSED space did NOT suit well at all with the Pikachu. And the pain... it almost felt like he was... back... there... "PIKA PI-KA!" Pikachu croaked hoarsely, loudly, and terrifiedly, hoping to alert anyone outside that there WAS someone stuck in the thick rubble. Once the fact that he was trapped in a small, confined space filtered through the pain the electric rodent was feeling, he panicked, clawing at the too-close rocks. PLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE GET HIM OUT OF HERE!

Midna stared at the sudden onslaught of colorful characters. A...worm wearing a suit? And a humanoid frog and rabbit? And a girl commanding some sort of oversized Cucco? ...I've seen worse, Midna thought to herself. And it was true; these beings didn't come close to the nightmare fuel that was the Oocca, or the horrid beasts that Zant changed her people into with his magic. After a moment of watching the worm struggle with an unstable statue, she shrugged. Regardless of how absurd he looked, he was obviously quite strong; her help wouldn't be needed. "PIKA PI-KA!""Eh...?" Midna blinked as she heard a squeaky voice emerge from the rocks next to her. Staring at them a moment longer, her visible eye widened as the pebbles on the very top of the pile trembled. "Hey!" She cried out suddenly. "Someone's under there!" She turned again to look at the new arrivals. The worm was busy...maybe that girl could help? Nah, these rocks were way too big for her...that rabbit guy looked too old for it, and she doubted the frog could help... Midna frowned. She didn't like to openly display her powers in front of complete strangers, but there was no other choice. Sure there is, a small voice in the back of her mind piped up. You could just leave.Midna blinked at that, and promptly rejected the idea. Whatever was under there was trapped, defenseless, and probably suffocating. It would be cruel to leave and let them slowly die while other people stood around and watched, powerless to help... She relaxed from her sitting pose and stood up (or at least moved so she was floating in an erect position) as she called upon the natural magic flowing within her. You've grown soft, the voice in her mind scolded her. It sounded a little like Zant's voice. The Twilight Princess I knew would never go out of her way to help a Light-Worlder -- let alone expose our family's magic in the process! Has your infatuation with that Hylian muddled your mind so much that you don't remember your priorities anymore? Eee hee hee!Midna ignored the voice, too busy focusing her will on the pile before her. Arcs of red electricity sparked into existence around the boulders, as her hair -- shaped into a ponytail and held that way with a golden ring -- moved of its own accord, rising up and forming the shape of a hand. Midna gritted her teeth with the force of her concentration as both her real hands and the new, fake one made a lifting motion at once. A grunt of exertion was wrested from her as she felt the whole pile lift upwards as one body, held together by the force of her magic. With the debris in the air, the hard part was over. Midna took a couple deep breaths and wiped away some sweat from her face. "Whew." Almost as an afterthought, she made a vague gesture off to the side and the airborne pile of rocks rocketed away, smashing into an open area of ground and scattering on impact. She peered down at the tiny creature that had been hidden by the broken statue, and felt her expression go flat. It...was a mouse. A yellow one, yes, but just a mouse nonetheless. She'd used up all that energy saving a simple animal. That voice in the back of her mind was laughing up a storm right now. Slowly descending through the air, Midna touched down on the ground right next to the mouse. It was fairly large, about her size, and it looked none too good after being crushed for who-knows-how-long. Midna sighed, figuring she might as well make the most of her situation as she examined the creature's injuries. "Are you all right?" She asked it, not expecting an answer.

Their eyes gawked at the abnormal ability the strange imp performed. May, for a moment, thought she was a Pokémon, but in This World, that's highly doubtful. But the being under the rock was indeed, and unmistakably, a Pokémon. "Pikachu!!" May cried, dropping on her knees to get a closer look at his condition. It certainly wasn't to her liking, but sadly May hardly knows a thing about treating the wound. Everytime her Pokémon gets injured, she can easily send them to her poke-balls. But this Pikachu has no trainer, which means he had to be picked up by hands. She was afraid to do that; she doesn't know how to handle... "Brendan!!!" May cried, running up the stairs. "Heh! With Samus Aran, she's a one-man army enough for a warzone. Reporters just don't get that through their thick heads, is all." "Eh, Slippy, who were those people you were with?" The elder mercenary then glanced at the dog on the rocket, following the trail where that worm and the woman went with his eyes...then back to Peter, "And you, lad?" "Thanks a bunch, my cupcake of delight!" Back on the lawn, Jim struggled, slowly stepping to the lawn to keep the statue away from the streets outside the gate. "Carrying the world alone can never be done. It's always necessary to have friends to-" "Quit with the after school junk, James!" Gritting her teeth, the princess held the Mario statue on her back. "I mean, this guy is heavier than the world!" "Hey, how would you know?...Wait, actually, you're right." Grunting, Jim barely stepped, side-ways, off the path. "So...where should I put this?" "In the grass!" "I can't see much!" he warned, trying to look over his left, but the world was in the way of his view of the lawn. "I think Africa is in the way." "Jim! Look!" The princess waved her right arm. "You see my hand? Huh?" "Princess, I can't really see behind me!!" "Oh, just..." Groaning, she rubbed her forehead. "Just pace over to your right!" "Okay!" And so he did, side-waying to the right. But the princess pulled the statue to make him halt. "No, your OTHER right!" "You said riiiiiight!!!" he whined. Yes, my friends, they're acting like a married couple moving furniture.
