Light's Lab - Beacons of Light

[Vize Viper]

The sun had risen several hours ago, over a city that had NOT been there the morning before... Monsteropolis, birthplace of Bioroids, more commonly known by a more... stylish name.

Robot Masters. The creations of Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, two geniuses who now opposed each other regularly. Dr. Wily now lived in his "Skull Castle", a menacing fortress that used to almost overlook the city, but was now absent, most likely elsewhere in This World.

Dr. Light, however, lived rather peacefully on the edge of the city, in its suburbs. The city at the moment looked like it'd just been hit by a disaster, which in a sense, it had. Dr. Wily had attacked it only a few hours before, and then the entire city, in the middle of reconstruction efforts, had been ungulfed in white light. Everyone had been convinced that it was the end... But when the light faded, everyone was... all right. Repair teams got back to work, although satellite services of all types suddenly simply weren't working properly.

TVs were now picking up signals showing "Brawls", which looked like something out of a video game, honestly, and there seemed to be all sorts of related media on every channel.

But Dr. Light took no note of this. He was in his lab, trying to use a powerful transmitter he'd installed only a few weeks before to connect to the satellites network itself.

His children were gone. Blues, he could understand, that boy wandered all the time, and Mega Man had been facing Wily again... He would return when he could.. But Roll... she'd vanished right off the street! Where could she have gone?

He'd quickly realized that the satellites were, while advanced, lacked the programming to function as a GTN/PS (Global Teleportation Network and Positioning System), leaving all three Robot Masters effectively lost... That would be his first concern.

So for the last few hours after coming to, the good doctor had begun uploading programs to the satelite network, to "teach" them how to act as a GTN/PS...

The process would still take several days to affect the entire network, and doing this WAS technically illegal... but he had to find them. He had to find his children, and bring them home safely.

"Oh boy, I don't think I'll ever wanna see another forest ever again in this nutty place."

Somewhere close by Light's lab, a young black haired boy, accompanied by a small dirty robot, gradually strolled down the quiet street of the suburbs. Ikki Tenryou was delighted to reach civilization, but he was exhausted from all the running. However, he left the only person he recognized on this world, Rokusho. But that Medabot always wanders on his own. He can take care of himself, and Ikki didn't want to go back to that duck hunt zone.

"Yeah well thanks to you, Ikki, we left Rokusho back there." Metabee said, frowning, even though he barely lacked the muscles to do so. He's only a robot.

"You know he can take care of himself. Besides, we finally made it to a city, and that means I am NOT going back to that monster-infested forest. Now all we gotta do is find somebody who knows what this place is."

"And someone who can fix my beautiful bod."

Frowning, Ikki took out a piece of paper. It was a receipt from the place in Navi that was supposed to clean Metabee. "Good thing I have this receipt. I want my money...whoa!"



"Think we can go trick or treating there, Ikki?"

The good doctor, meanwhile, was focused rather completely on his computer console. The computer could handle the uploading process itself, but he didn't feel comfortable just LEAVING it, in case something got fouled up in the process...

Then, a proximity alert went off. Someone was near his home! Quickly activating a small, subtle camera, Dr. Light examined the boy and his robot. He'd never seen a robot that looked quite like it before... and judging from its behavior it had a rather advanced AI.

Meanwhile, near the two, a normal looking "bird" seemed to be watching the two VERY intently from a branch.

"I don't know, Metabee. Judging by that egg-shaped building over there, I don't think we should go near this place."

"Aaagh!" waving off Ikki, Metabee marched up to the stairs. "It's probably just some fancy garage!"

"Metabee!" Ikki walked after him. He just knows there's something about this place they should watch out for. For all he know, the person who owns this place might have some super Medabot or something.

As the robot headed towards the door, Dr. Light deactivated certain defense systems that would have gone off otherwise. Considering this robot was traveling with a young boy, the doctor wasn't that concerned that the robot was dangerous... at least, to him.

That done, he then headed for the front door himself, and opened it, most likely just as the robot was about to knock.

"Can I help you two boys?" The question seemed odd, considering one of the pair was a robot, but Dr. Light always considered robots (at least the intelligent variety), worthy of just as much respect as a normal person.

"WHOA!!!" the robot was just startled because he did not expect someone to open the door before he was about to knock. But now, Metabee gawked at the elderly man and his fluffy beard. "Ikki, I knew it!!! The North Pole was just a decoy or something! Santa lives here!!"

The boy smacked his own head, fearing that comment might upset the man. Though he does have to admit, he does look like Santa in a lab coat. "Uh...y-yeah, sir. We're kinda...um...lost."

The kind old man just smiled at the startled robot, then at Ikki. "I get that quite a bit. And I'm afraid you're not the only one who's lost, my boy. The whole city seems to have been moved here... Wherever here is."

The doctor then stepped aside from the door. "Please, come in. Perhaps we should compare notes."

"The whole city...what?" that sounded a bit too strange...but then again, he seen strange. Never the less, Ikki did what the man said, entering the house.

But not soon as his Medabot who rushed in there, like a child going into Santa's workshop...probably because he still thinks the man is Santa. "Whoa!!"

What he saw was a room that was all walled with metal and lots of electronic tech. There were many computer equipment, at least to him, that seemed to belong to Medabot Corp.

"Yo, Ikki! Check out his digs! He could probably build his own Medabots here!"

Ikki, on the other hand stayed out of the room, standing in the hall. "Metabee, I don't think it's polite to walk in on the man's workshop or something!"

The word "Medabot" got his attention, and he glanced at Ikki. "I may be a roboticist, but I'm afraid I've never heard of a Medabot. Is that what Metabee is?"

The doctor turned his attention to the robot in question, walking into the room and looking him over.

"I simply thought he was another Robot Master someone designed, but he's actually a completely different type, then?"

"Uh, yeah..." Ikki slowly followed the man, kind of worried that he maybe in another world. If a person, especially a roboticist, doesn't know what a Medabot is, then bet your soul that you're in another world.

"I guess you probably don't know what a Medabot is, if this is another world. I mean one moment, we were on a space colony, just Ro-battling some Medabots, then this huge light just came at us. The next I know, we're in the forest, running from B-movie monsters."

"Hey, you got the robot 'MASTER' part right, pops. I am da masta of robots." he stood proud, nodding, "Mmm hmm, that's right."

"Would you stop that?"

The roboticist took in Ikki's explanation of how they got here quietly, then gave Medabee another once-over.

"Well, Metabee, while I will admit you're rather advanced, I'm afraid most actual Robot Masters could probably destroy you rather easily." The Doctor then headed for the living room, to get a seat.

"Please, make yourselves comfortable."

The Dr's living room was actually rather cozy, having a pair of recliners, and a couch, the couch facing the two recliners at an angle, so that all of them were facing a rather large television. There was also a fireplace, probably fake, considering the house had no chimney, with pictures across the mantle. All of the pictures had the doctor in them, along with, usually, a boy and a girl, who looked about Ikki's age, although sometimes a second boy was present, who seemed to be a little older, but that may have been because of how he seemed to carry himself, even in photographs.

"Oh! I've been so distracted lately, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Thomas Light, although I'm usually just called Dr. Light."

Ikki was rather impressed by the interior of the place, which looks like something only someone with lots of money could afford. But with what this guy has, he probably has money to boot. "Hi, I'm Ikki Tenryou, and this-"

This Medabot's head was all red hot, as steam sprayed out of his cannon horns like a tea pot. "And I'M Metabee, Medabot champion of the world! And I could probably take a Robot 'Master' down with my EYES closed, pops!"

Quickly, Ikki kept the angry bot back. "Uh, sorry sir, but Metabee has the worse temper in the world."

Dr. Light just held his hands up in a attempt at a peacemaking gesture.

"My apologies, Metabee, but I speak from a great deal of experience dealing with Robot Masters, and in all honesty, have no idea what you're capable of. You may be right, but it would be safer to not try to find out."

The doctor then sat in one of the recliners, facing the boy and his Metabot.

If the two were to sit at the couch, they'd notice that, tucked next to one end of the couch was a box full of old newspapers, all of them talking about Mega Man's exploits against Wily's robot armies.

But that would really be only if they looked.

Sadly, Ikki wasn't the type to be taking interest of everything as he sat on the said couch. "So you're saying before that we're not the only ones dumped on some nutty world?"

The immature Medabot grumbled, rather low, like he was mocking what Dr. Light said. Since he was close to the box, Metabee grabbed one of the papers and scanned through the pages, "Hey, where are the funnies?"

Thomas glanced at Medabee quickly. "Near the back." Then he, after a moment's thought, answered Ikki's question.

"Well, at the very least these suburbs, and the city they're attached to has been brought here. And I imagine even we aren't all that've been brought here. I only hope that Rock and the others are all right..." The doctor glanced at the photos along the mantle, then rested his hands on the armrests of his chair.
